Best place to find a Suntour Cyclone FD

Greetings,

I've checked the LBS parts depots a few times over the past month, and keep getting outbid on them on ebay (most auctions ending at over $40).
Should I ask around the forum? I know I'm being picky, but I just love the look of my old school cylone front derailleur. The embossed lettering is just plain sexy. That, and I'm trying to keep the group stock.
The general consensus has been that any of the cyclone front derailleurs should work with the granny ring, does that sound right?
So far, the patch I made to hold the cage together (after the chain cut it) is working well, but I know that piece of metal and the aluminum tape are just adding too much weight
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yep, but only 2 are my 'vintage' (with the embossed lettering). I can find a decent Mark II at the LBS shops (they have a plethora).
The one for $27 has been up for months. Definitely not in $27 condition.
The $38 one is NOS and it's my backup, as there are 9 available. I guess I'm just not quite ready to pay $38 + $17 shipping, especially since the seller says it's only for double chainrings, which is the main reason I asked about the granny ring... Would the derailleur still work for me?

The derailleur will work with a triple. I have bought three over time (one with the new bike in 1982, one last year, and a third earlier this year when I stripped the thread on the cable clamp, argh!).

If you want mine with the stripped thread, I would be happy to send it to you gratis. Maybe you could thread it for 6mm and make it work.

They work great with granny gears.

Awesome, thanks for the info.
I would be more than happy to take that derailleur off your hands (it's one of the first gen with the embossed lettering right?). I'm sure I can make it work somehow (I have a hard time saying no to anything that's free). I'll PM you my address.
If I can't make it work, then I'm sure something will come around soon enough.

I'm trying. As long as my patch holds up, I can wait.

The LBS finally had what I needed, and for $8 to boot.
this one won't last a long time as it has a decent amount of wear already, but it should tide me over until i'm comfortable paying for a NOS FD.

Thanks again for the help, enjoy your rides!
