Colnago build
A while back I got hold something I never thought I could come across & that I always wanted, an old Colnago! Its not quite as old as I woulda liked being an early 90s, and I thought of maybe selling or trading it in hopes for a nice 70s race frame.. but after thinking about I should stick with this, especially since I would end up going rather custom with the build some might cringe in a way at the sight for a 70s machine.
This build will probably be kinda slow as i'm just coming off a busted hand (road race crash), plus I'm waiting for a few bits to come in the mail, but for the build im gonna swap the steel fork for straight blade carbon fork I have. Its actually rather attractive I find with a polished alloy crown, plus the straight blades are fitting for 90s colnago. The steer tube is threaded cromoly so im using a quill stem (my favorite 3t head).
the spacing is 130, so I might as well go 10 speed cassette. I bought some 10 speed bar cons for my race bike in case I cant shift STI shifter anymore with my injury so Im gonna use those on this bike, and maybe pick up another set for my race bike if that is indeed the case.
Almost allparts are gonna be dura ace.. not sure about the crank or brake levers just now... might just use what I can dig up in the mean time... was thinking even non aero levers cause I just love the look, I also really wanna use old crankset with milled arms.
my favorite brakes ever
more goody!

I know no one is all that intereted but shes finished.. I used my old shimano bar cons (friction only), and found a 8 speed cassette so I used that.. shifts super smooth. The steer tube on my straight blade carbon fork was 1 cm too short so I used a kinesis alloy one I have.. Its not pretty but I like the very little rake, like the handling it gives back.
The sakae crank is temp till I find a nice shimano one... I wanna use gold cable housing too.. and find some blue bar tape that actually matches the frame (lil things like that bother me), if not I'll just use black. I driilled the inner ring out for fun, as well as my RD, and drilled my seatpost (not all the way through!)

I'm envious! A Colnago is my Holy Grail, but I need to find a real steel on one in order to get it someday.
It's the one thing that could move me to sell off most everything else to get if the opportunity presented itself for the right bike/frame.
Nice score, and good luck with the hand.

SWEET! @_@
Would love me a classic Colnago. The hunt for my Italian steel steed is never ending.
Congrats!
She looks to be coming together nicely. I'd got white tape as well, matches the logo color.

Well, I decided to part it out.. long story short, a colnago to me is like a ferrari, and im not the kinda guy who would drive a ferrari, I'd rather take a chevy chevette and soup it up and ride that and blow people minds. I felt too sad I had to take parts off my sekine frame I built up.. so the Sekine is back and not sure what to do with the colnago as of now.. maybe I'll trade it for a nice gold painted sekine frame.
