'93 Schwinn Paramount - Initial Pics

Hi everyone,

Thanks again for the advice on the Paramount. Here are some initial, "as found" pictures.
RS

Edit: The rear wheel did not come with the bike. Its there for balance.

This is the small dent in the top tube-

Hrm, nice bike, it was $75, right?

As others said in the other thread, yeah, you did well, the brifters alone can net you $125 on eBay any day of the week, the brakes (if DA) probably another $80. Needless to say, PM me if you feel the need to part with either of those

I see a trip to Waterford in that bikes' future.

The "fastback" seat stay treatment on this bike is a departure from earlier Paramounts, and I really like it. In fact, I liked it so much I asked Waterford to give the same treatment to the seat stays on my 953 RS-22.

This is how they did it on the first Paramount OS, and an example of Waterford's restoration work.

This thread is making me miss my bike.

Glad you picked it up. I agree with the new paint. The frame deserves it. A little oxalic bath for some of the rusty bits and you'll have a nice ride.

Don't miss it too much! It is, after all, still in the family.

Thanks for the comments guys.
I am rapidly falling in love with this bike and looking forward to working on it!

Out of curiosity, how much would a tt repair and repaint run?

Heres a few more pics -

A tube replacement will probably run around $200, and a decent paint job (like, from Waterford) will run around $500. See the Waterford Restoration Price List. There will be shipping charges both ways on top of that.

It's a world class bike, but since it really is too small for you, I wouldn't invest a lot of money in it. Just MHO.

Wow, 700 for repairs is definitely out of my budget right now. Luckily there doesn't seem to be any major structural damage to the frame, it just pretty dirty. It'll look alot better after I clean it
