time to vent
i"ve been going thru some of the other forums and see the same pattern.people asking "how much is it worth?" and "should i buy it?" i know this has been beat to death before but i think these questions should be ignored. When a person really likes bikes and not just trying to make a buck they will do research .the computer is right in front of them.Only a fool would ask someone else what to do with their money.i can understand asking about a particular bike, trying to get a history of the model .theres a lot of good, helpful people on these forums who know a lot because they have a true love for cycling.they actually invested time into the hobby to gather the info they know.some of the nuubes should try that.just venting, feel better!

The forums are the fastest way to figure out if you're getting ripped off or not. That is, if you can't find out before hand on ebay, google etc. If it's so painful to help out someone who is less knowledgeable than the massive amount of people on this website than don't do it. This is a forum. It's a place to ask questions and receive answers. I for one am going to take full advantage of that knowledge at my fingertips. The forum is not going to run out of room for questions that you find important.
"Only a fool would ask someone else what to do with their money".
You need to cool your jets and think through what you're typing. Some of it seems a bit ridiculous.
That said, I support your venting. I do that too.

I don't agree with the comment about the newb looking to buy a vintage bike and asks our help to assure they're not paying too much. If I help 10, and only one becomes a member here, participating in our pursuit of our hobby, then its worth it. However, I do wish more would ask before they buy rather than ask afterwards.
So, I guess I agree with half of your vent. I guess that makes me half vented.

If nobody rose to the bait, then people would stop fishin'. Just walk away, go read another thread, and don't get your jaws tight about it.

Agreed. Threads like this do not improve the forum in my opinion. If you have a problem with a thread, it is better to report it, or PM a moderator (in here it would be best to send it to myself or Lotek, or miamijim) about what can be done.
