Hetchins

Does anyone have one? If so, how does it ride? I'm getting the itch for another bike and may start looking across the pond. I'm not sure there are many over here. I could go for a Magnum Opus without too much convincing. Either one of these I think would suit me just fine.

You are a man after my own heart. I've looked into the Hetchins after reading the artilce in Bicycle Quarterly. You can order one from World Class Cycles here in the states. Prices aren't too bad either. Problem for me is how to build it.....old world retro drive-train or new technology Campy based hardware. PG.

I bought one of the 60th Anniversary Hetchins through World Class years ago, its a beautiful piece of work; chrome fancy lugs, curly stays and fastback seat cluster. I built it up with older Campagnolo from my stash. Unfortunately, this is the only pic I have, a Polaroid while I was building it.

Sure, why not? Smaller miracles have happened, albeit not to me......yet

dbakl, NICE, how does it ride? World Class no longer is a distributor. It would be sad if these go the way of the dodo bird.

Ha, ha: never ridden it! Too many other bikes. It won an award at a bike show in Del Mar once though.

According to the World Class Cycles/Bob Jackson catalogue, curly stays can be fitted to a Bob Jackson frame. There is no mention in the current catalogue of the Hetchins name.

Hellenic stays, wherein the seat stays were joined both at the seat tube and the top tube, are evidently dead. In looking up their history there was one frame with this feature constructed and exhibited at a show this decade, but no more were produced, probably due to lack of interest.

pink Bobby J living at the homestead in TX

don't blame me for the non driveside photos, they're not my doing

I loved riding this thing, I gave it to my father. It's no racer, but it's a blast.
