9mm cotter pins?

So my bike is a vintage 70s Motobecane I believe? not sure on the model, but I am having troubles with finding the right cotter pins. The cotter pin on the non-drivetrain side has become worn because it wasn't fastened correctly with the right nut. I've gone to a few LBS, but they don't have the correct cotter pin for the bike. They said it is a 9mm cotter pin, but the taper is different than the standard one.

So if anyone has any idea of where I can get a replacement cotter pin of this description, please help me out. Any help is appreciated

It's cotters, not cotter pins. I got 9mm cotters for my Peugeot from Harris Cyclery. Getting them to fit perfectly required a few strokes with a file. Anybody that tells you that a cotter won't work because the taper is different doesn't understand how cotters work.

You'll also need one of these if you want to do it yourself and do it right:

I may be wrong, but I believe that 9mm was standard English cotters. I believe that French bikes had 8.5 or sometimes 8.0. It is quite common to have to file down the taper to get them to fit correctly.

You are wrong. The standard French size is 9mm. English cotters are 9.5mm.

Yes, it is common to have to file them to get then to fit correctly.
