So my girlfriend left to study abroad in Europe (so guess what I did)
I decided that I needed to make myself feel better, so I went and drove 200 miles to pick this up. It's rare that I find bikes in my size, let alone ones with new tires, tubes, a new chain, bartape, cables, and housings, for $200. Full shimano 600 with cinelli stem and handlebars, campagnolo brake pads, rigida 700c rims.
What can I say? It's lighter and nicer than my "nice" road bike. We'll see who the beater bike is now!

Well done Mazdaspeed. I've just a couple days ago started looking at the late 80's Tenax Schwinns. There's a Prelude in my size on Ebay that was listed as late 90's. Sooooo, how does it ride?
The 600 set looks unused!

very nice...now to make yourself feel even better, set the GF to scrounging for vintage European frames and parts. They're practically giving the stuff away over there, you two could get a cottage industry going.

funny, how buying something like this can make one instantly feel better. not a bad bike at all. i have a schwinn tempo, probably mid 80's, that i used to actually run in the local tri-athalon and it wasn't the best bike there, but held it's own very well. my bike had shimano 105 components and looked similar to yours. good condition by the way.

Thanks guys. I haven't ridden it yet, except for the parking lot test ride, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be my new favorite. And the bike is indeed in extremely good shape. The previous owner used to live in Ireland and raced there for 10 years (notice the reversed brake sides), and he put this together for himself but had to sell it since he lives in the woods and needed a MTB.

Congrats ... I can't offer much about the frame, but you'll love the Shimano 600. I've got several bikes from that era with a range of groups (Shimano 105, Shimano 600, Dura-Ace and Campy) and for smoothness, precision, reliability, ease of maintenance, and parts availablity, you just can't beat the 600 ...

Very nice find. Appears to be in excellent condition and, most important, its your size. Congrats.
BTW, you said your size is hard to find, what size is that, look like a 60cm to me.

I'm very concerned for you!
1) that bike is too clean and pretty to ride
2) may be haunted - why else would prior owner take such good care of it and then sell it for such a good deal?
Seriously, great find!
