I don't know much about Specialized Allez, other than what I've found out by searching online. This frame I linked below has the dimensions I'm looking for, but I don't know about anything else. First of all, I'm trying to confirm that this is in fact an Allez (I read they had Aluminum forks in the mid 90's - but maybe that was a different model.). Second, I'm trying to figure out info on the tubing/weight/quality, or anything really about the lugged Allez. A link to a 1994 catalog would be fantastic!!!! I'm looking to swap out the Merida frame because its a bit big. Thanks for the help! Here is the ebay post:

The 1994 Allez did feature an aluminum fork. The frame tubing is CrMo, 1/8"' oversize on the top and down tubes. Based on the wall thicknesses it is equivalent to Ishiwata 019. The frame weighs 4.10lbs with a 1.22 lb fork.

The geometry is more road race oriented than criterium oriented, being slightly relaxed ( 73.5 HT / 73 ST) and stretched out (57.8cm TT) wheelbase 99.7cm. All weights and dimensions based on 58cm ctc frame.

I have a 1993 Allez Pro. And as someone told me when I was asking before my purchase, the tubing was specially drawn for Specialized by Tange to the specs indicated above. It's pretty light and a solid frame. I'm not a huge fan of the Al fork though and will probably be switching it out before long. You can find some catalogs here but they're in German.

Thanks T-Mar. Very Helpful info as usual! The frame I'm looking into is 58cm c-t with a reported 56.8cm top tube c-c. This seems to jive with your 58cm c-c spec. I'm having the seller send me some more pics. Do you know if Specialized put the version of Allez on the on the frame? you know, like "Allez Sport" or "Allez Comp" or did they just put "Allez" and distinguish which they were by the components? This particular one just says "Allez" but I'd like to know if it is a Camp, Pro, or Sport.

Looking at the catalogs, the ebay bike looks like it might be a 1993, as the 1994 had ALLEZ in white lettering.

I think your right about the 1993 date. The seller just told me that the fork is steel. The 93's had steel forks. The only 94 with steel forks is the sport. Your right about the color of the letters as well.

Thanks for the help everyone! I Think I'm going for it. Its my size, and I need to rid myself of the Merida.

edit: man do I wish those catalogs were English!

The Bikepedia page for this model doesn't specify the colors. I've got a too-small-for-me blue 1994 Allez somwhere in the garage. I know it is a 1994 because it has the original Campagnolo Stratos (Ergo) group on it. The frame has yellow lettering with red trim around the letters, so that ebay offering could well be a 1994 with those yellow letters.

The headset on mine is a Specialized branded one. I suspect if that ebay seller claims it is a 1994 he might have identified that year by the (Campy) components he plucked off of it, probably leaving the headset on.

The 1993 Allez was equipped with a Shimano RX100 group. There was not a regular Allez model in 1995.

My literature does not have good enough resolution to substantiate if there is a model name on the top tube. The base model with Campagnolo Stratos was just listed as the Allez (same as Blank Clows), however a bare frameset was also available, so it could be either. Regardless, there is no difference in the frames of the four models, only the components (and presence of the model name?).

I've got an Allez from the early 90's, as does my wife. Great ride. I had thought that only the Sirrus came through with steel forks, but I might be wrong. Don't hesitate to get it if it's your size, but I wouldn't spend more than $250 on the frame so don't get eBay fever. They come up for sale often enough.

This looks to be the 'frameset only' version of the Allez, and so it won't say Allez Sport or Allez Pro anyhwere on the frame. And it does have an aluminum fork.

i still have my orginal 1978 allez and still a great ride,the best i can tell ya is they were made from japanese tange tubing either prestige or tange double butted.
worth the money and time to restore or to just fix it up and ride.

I JUST called him! He sold it!!!! He had it on Craigslist too, so I was communicating through email. He sent me photos this morning, and I just called him to set up the purchase!!! arrgh.....
