ID this miyata?

Apparently it needs a rear wheel and seat, and it has a "signature crank". I'm having my friend pick it up tomorrow since the guy is only asking $25. Any guesses on what kind it is?

Frame color is the same as some 1000s I've seen, but don't take my word for that.

I searched and searched and the only black frame with a silver head tube I saw was a 1000. However, this has a double crank and those don't really look like cantilever brakes...

My 110 has the same colouring actually. Hard to tell what yours is from those pics, can't really go wrong for $25 though.

If T-Mar told me it was a Miyata by just hearing it ride by I would go ok, what color is it? Now If I could just get him to find me a 1000 for about 200 bucks I would be in business, lol.

Disappointing. I really thought it looked like a 1000...that would've been a steal and a half.

Hey for $25, I'd jump on it. You did good, maybe you didn't make a killing, but that's still a nice ride for that price.

Yeah 25 bucks is real cheap considering it seems to be almost complete.

Aside from knowing that he's right it says '110' or 'One Ten' on the tube.

Sorry, but I can only tell you the brand and model of the tires and drive train when a bicycle rides past. Seriously, I used to have "golden ears", but they were never that good and decades of wind noise from bicycle racing and motorcycling have taken their toll. However, my son appears to have inherited some of my old traits and has the ability to differentiate manufacturers of distant train locomotives from the sound of their horns.

As for the bicycle in question, I could not make out the model designation on the top tube. The presence of side-pull brakes, as opposed to cantilevers, immediately indicated that it was not a 1000 model. The year was identified on the basis of the decal scheme. The model was then narrowed down of the combination of color scheme, Signature crankset and top mounted, band style, shifters.

For, comparison, the scan from the 1985 catalogue is attached.

So apparently the frame is triple butted, which is interesting, does anyone know what kind of frame/ bike weight we're dealing with here? It's a few CM bigger than what I normally ride but I might replace my beater bike with it since I really don't like my beater bike...
