Am I seeing things?

Touring the CL pages and came across this:

http://tulsa.craigslist.org/bik/870308720.html

Is there someting special here or do I just not understand the value of the value of this item?

It looks like it was crashed into a wall pretty hard. Otherwise, yeah, price seems steep.

Where would this bike, with an obvious bent fork, sell for $150?

That isn't bent. It's just the precursor to the new Pinarellos.

Did you see the other things this fellow is selling?

Spray-painted Trek:

http://tulsa.craigslist.org/bik/870337221.html

Saggy cable Free Spirit:

http://tulsa.craigslist.org/bik/867150707.html

$135 Vertical (Target) road bike - call it the name on the top tube, and nobody will know you're taking them for about $35 more then it retails for:

http://tulsa.craigslist.org/bik/851493867.html

Nothing but someone who thinks they can buy it and flip it minus any work whatsoever. Local junk-bike dealer.

That chain just has a lot of patina. if you parted that bike out, you'd want to be careful not to polish or repaint that chain cause you'd loose that patina.

Heh. If that was around here, I'd make an offer. That'd be a nice frame for an SS conversion, if you could get it for under $50.

I think "patina" must be the Italian word for "rusted-to-****".
I have lots of richly patina-d bikes, some of them gaining patina even as I'm writing this.

That fork is bent seriously enough I'd be surprised if the rest of the frame was intact. But without that crash damage, that bike would sell for $150 in Chicago; if it was converted to FG they'd probably ask for $275.

The same guy had that World Tour posted on ebay a few weeks ago. I'm glad to see that it didn't sell.

I knew y'all would get a kick out of that one!
I moved back to Tulsa after 4 years in Houston and I'm here to tell ya that it's night and day on the LIST. I love Tulsa and Green country Oklahoma but CL is a joke here. Between the trashcan wally world ads and totally rediculous prices from the "part time" dealers I rarely if ever find much there. Every once in a while a nice, affordable item comes up but their gone as fast as their listed and next thing you know their back at some moronic price.
I know I'm comparing apples and oranges 'tween H Town and Tulsa but the difference is drastice on CL to say the least which is a sad thing.....
especially for a wallet distressed vintage lover such as I

Shouldn't you be in school during the day? Perhaps an English class?

+1.

Sounds like another one of his kind too - flipping overpriced bikes, yet not doing a thing about making them roadworthy (or caring one bit, either). Probably the same idiot in the first place.

Then again, perhaps it isn't a bad thing after all - wise-arses such as these two will no doubt get proper karma back in their face - after all, sooner or later, the sucker they unloaded their junk on will come back with a hefty lawsuit after sustaining injury from a split frame or snapped brake cable.

There should be penalties on this forum for knowingly promoting the sale of damaged bicycles.

-Kurt

P.S.: Brianspedro - get stuffed.
