Colnago? I don't think so - but....
Hi everyone.
Here is my latest bulk rubbish find.
Although it says Colnago on the decals I don't think it is (much as I would love it to be one).
It came with Galli Brakes, levers and non drive side crank, campagnolo pedals, campagnolo FD and mavic tubular rim with campag hub (rear), 3ttt bar and stem all of which I think may be original.
The other bits include Shimano 600 RD and mavic ma40 clincher rim with Shimano 600 hub.
The seatpost is a Sugino Mighty (Super Record 2 bolt copy) which i have measured ay 27mm so I think the seat tube is either 27 or 27.2mm.
The dropouts (rear at least) are Columbus.
From the lack of cable guides and clamp on changer I would guess early 70s
Does anyone know what it is?

Def 70,s and NOT "Colnago" looks similar to a Miyata I have,(not saying it IS one tho) have you found the serial No ? good score tho m8 !

Even the Columbus decal looks suspect, but it has some interesting details: the lugwork is good in some places, sketchy in others. I'd be tempted to guess "Japanese" too, but then the braze-on cable stop on the chainstay and those Simplex shifters smell more "European"...great find for the price! Given that is has "some" braze-ons, but not others could mean it's from a transitional period (late 70s for example) or some could have rusted/broken off. When you take it apart, look for signs of it being a respray.

nice fake, but the decals are in the wrong places, the lugs have no cutouts (check under the BB too), and is there a serial number stamped into the right dropout where the skewer clamps on? the lugs at the headtube look funny, with a very non-standard little v cut rather than a pair of small points (in that vintage of super). the brake bridge does not have the signature square block in the center, and the seat stay attachment points at the seat tube are wrong for the period (usually concve ccaps at that time too).
what does the frame weigh? might be an OK bike under all that.
