There are lots of pedal systems out there with, um, non-conventional aesthetics. My favourites, in terms of out-of the box thinking, are Eggbeaters.

Yeah those pedals are pretty ugly for sure. I agree about straight blade carbon aero forks... make me think of the Cannondale ironman bicycle, a hideous beast, a lot of old tri-bike can be pretty ugly which brings up aero bars and some of the really aweful early designs like the ones that are like a giant mishalen triangle, I have always thought mavic starfish cranks are pretty hideous as well.

Those pedals are heinous. Wonder why they don't make those anymore?
Not to hijack your thread, but I've always thought these were extra ugly.

And who put those on a Riv?

Eggbeaters look nice. The Phil Woods are just plain ugly.

It's a good thing you folks have never seen me in spandex. Even with my poor eyesight it's just plain ugly.

Naturally I consider myself a bike part, or at least folks have called me a tool.

Those pedals in the OP are heinous. Might as well use this shifter while they're at it:

I mean really, a green, gold and red derailleur with a f**king flag on it? What is it supposed to be, some kind of patriotic christmas tree decoration?

I sold a set of those Phil CHP pedals a few months back. I actually think they do look kind of funky cool, but performance didn't suit me. They came on my '74 English touring bike, and I rode them for a couple of rides and just didn't like the feel at all. I offered them on the Classic Rendezvous list at $75, and they number of eager buyers was stunning!

I sold a pair of Phil pedals a couple of years ago. They came on a Super Course that I bought for my wife. This $60 Super Course yielded the above mentioned pedals, a pristine set of Module E rims with Hi-E hubs and old logo Cinelli track bars. I sold everything except the rims, but the ugly Phil pedals went first.

What's so ugly about those Marrock? I kind of like them. Actually, that's about what I'd want to make a Yehuda-esque bike (I LOVE his bike).

Well... I dislike them at the moment because I have a set I'm trying to sell and no one seems interested in them.
