Early Boom Cilo Pics Req'd
I have a chance to pic up a reportedly 1969 Cilo. However, the entire frame has been repainted, poorly. Can anybody offer any reference photos? TIA.

T-Mar,
I've only seen 4 pictures of Cilo's on line, 3 were on Velospace and 1 here as a girlfriend's bike. I've not seen a picture of anything pre-1986. I wonder if they were as nice then as in the 80's?

Here's another one off of Velospace. Possibly late 70's. Doesn't look like original paint though.

Darn it, I can't seem to find the 60's Cilo I found a while back. I think it had a script logo. Oh well, I'll be sure to post it here if I find it. For now here are a couple more off of ebay:
80's but interesting:

Thxs people. I came across a lot of these in my personal search, but nothing matches the frame in question.
As stated earlier, the frame is reportedly a 1969 Cilo built with Reynolds 531 DB. From what I can see, there is no reason to doubt the owner. The available evidence does support his statement. The threading is definitely French or Swiss but I couldn't get behind the crankarm well enough to clean off the caked-on grease and determine which. The tubing is metric with a 26.8mm jammed in. It's very tight but can be moved with great force. Lugs appear to be one of the many Nervex variations, short point, no windows and hand tapered at the major point. Dropouts are Campagnolo. The only braze-on is the cable stop on the chainstay. The only chrome is on the fork crown, which is heavily peppered with rust. There's some heavy rust bubbles under the paint on the top tube. The most distinctive features are the seat stay caps, which are hard to describe but have a long, square taper. There are no holes for a headbadge. Yeah, I know - pics, pics, pics! I'll try to remember to take my camera, next time.
Given, the potential problems with getting original, replacement headsets and bottom brackets, the tight seat post and the overall rough cosmetic condition, I don't think it is worth a restoration effort unless I have the references to do it correctly. That way I would at least get some personal satisfaction out of it, as it's unlikely I would recoup any investment.

I know I have seen pics of an early one with "Mondia-like" fade paint and lining, but a bit more restained. Also had a vintage headbadge not seen on any of these fine examples. Might have been an early '60s frame...I'll keep looking for it.

CB400Bill, where did you find the 4th picture of the gray frame only Cilo? I have the same bike and was hoping to find more information on it. I think it's a 1972 or 73!

You're more likely to get his attention if you quote him, as this thread is ten years old.
