STI compatibility

Hello,
I've got a Miyata 615 that I'd like to set up with an NOS Sora STI 3x7 speed unit. If I swap out the 6 speed freewheel for a seven, will this unit work together?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

just use a shimano RD and it should work.
