First you have to convince your company to PAY you the $240 a year. The only advantage I can see to the $20 credit is that it finally recognizes cycles as viable form of transportation. Parking spaces cost a helluva lot more than $240 a year. In our area $50-60 a month for a surface lot 2 blocks from the building is more the norm.

So does this mean you save $240 in receipts, then take them off your taxes?

My interpretation of it is that the a corporation can claim a $20 per month credit for every employee that cycle commutes to work, it is up to them to offer the money to you. The only advantage I see is that we now have gained a thin foothold in the fight to prove bicycles are part of the transportation market and are deserving of having money spent for them and their infrastructure.

According to reports from Interbike, high gas prices and economic turmoil have resulted in boom times for the bicycle industry.

Expect fewer discounted bikes and less gear put on end-of-season sale.

Bike mechanics are actually in a good position finally. they were going teh way of the do-do, but it seems that it is almost recession proof (time will tell), but bikes are one of the few things that maintain their value over time, or to an extent, have a minimum value
