Absolutely gorgeous. I would love to be able to attempt to clean it up and even try to ride it before keeping it as a piece of bike history.

Neat. The ad says "There is no waste of energy at any point in the crank revolution." But it's no different from a chain drive bike in this regard, right?

Very nice. I wants a turn of the century bicycle. I'm not fussy, it can have chain or shaft drive.

I may be wrong but I think a chain drive is much more efficient than a shaft drive - but who cares? The bike is fantastic.

I'll take a stab at you rhetorical question. Back a 100 years plus the bikes were more distinctive. Back 30 years ago other than color and small differences in lugs steel road bike frames were identical. The largest differences were in components. On the more "exotic" side there was the Cannondale which again only subtle differences in angles and hardpoints on the frame to differentiate among models. Up the scale you had the titanium frames and again only minor differences to differentiate between them. Finally you had the Kestrel which back 30 years ago only had one model and I have to wonder if any are still road worthy.
