No blame on the OP if it is, if you wanted to build a bike that looked like a later Pro from 10 or so feet away, a dressed out GP would be pretty convincing.

I hated to even bring it up, but it would not be the first time a G.P. was confused for something else I'm sure

I really do hope I'm wrong though. I will read the thread again.

Read it again, Plain lugs, wrap over seat stays, I will play Devil's advocate and say it might be a modded out Raleigh Grand Prix dressed up as something nicer.
Serial number wouldn't be what it is if that were the case. Fork would be different too.

True, But until I see a pic of either, I will have my reservations.

Now would be the time for the OP to buy a digital camera. They're cheap, and getting cheaper by the day. I spent $499 on my Nikon 885, and saw the same model a year or two later for $250, lol.,,,,BD

In all honesty, this has probably morphed into something more along the lines of the Raleigh Professional Appreciation Thread now.

Guess it's time to call all Raleigh Pros to surface in photo form within this thread. Indeed, there's no need to be bashful, whether beater or wall art, it's time to come out of the closet... Extra credit goes to photos of thy Pro actually MOVING at speed on the road, not hunkering down in garage or living room. But any and all welcome to flaunt, showoff, and admit guilt, even if static.

Or not.

I just want to say that this tread has got me wondering if maybe I shouldn't get a Raleigh.... that blue one sure is purdy... and of course the white one isn't bad either.... but I am a sucker for the blues....

Here are photos of mine posted in a thread I started earlier this year. It's occasionally ridden but wall art mostly. Daily ride is a Cannondale hybrid.

Dont get lazy on us... You have to have the beast in THIS thread, not some crazy link. This thread is too derailed already, leaving it would be adding insult to injury.

Alas, here's some of your 71 in full glory...

Mickey's amazing ability to spark this much discussion, pontification, salivation and desire without showing anything is second only to Gypsy Rose Lee.

Heh...indeed. But you have to admit, it's been a group effort. I have a feeling ole Mickey is now MIA as he might be a bit sheepish about the whole matter, namely the lack of digital photo capability in the year of 2008. I feel like sending him my old beleaguered 2mp Olympus on General Principles.

When the photos do appear, Lord Lucan will be riding the bike with Shergar pulling a cart on the other carriageway with the "Flying Dutchman" and "Marie Celeste" moored together under the bridge - or am I just getting tired, keep coming to this post to see photos and guess what - there they aren't!

I'd really like to see what a $10 (about £5) Raleigh Pro looks like, because I can guarantee I'll never get one in my lifetime!

Pick one. Who can keep track anymore? But I bet not on the bike we originally asked to see.

For all I know, you might have slipped me a photo of a Schwinn Paramount

-Kurt

(Truth be told, the Paramounts have smoothed chainstay and seatstay ends)
