This has been my latest project. The bike belongs to our neighbor, who watched our dachshunds when we went on vacation. She has three dachs of her own, so it was probably interesting. She refused any payment, so I offered to fix up her bike. She got the bike while stationed in Europe in the 80s. She was hosting an exchange student and the program gave her the bike so the student could ride around. Student had no desire to ride, so bike has set pretty much for 25 years. Some rust and other problems when I got it. Oxalic acid does work. Replaced the steel rims with some Weinmann alloy rims, replaced the front derailleur when the original broke while adjusting. Found a replacement front light on eBay, got additional fender hardware from Velo Orange. Generator and lights do work. Found the bell in CA while on vacation. So I guess we were supposed to go there. Still looking for the proper grips for it. If she ever decides to sell it, I am first in line. Fun ride.

And these are the brats....

Really no miracle involved. Bike had some rust on the rack, bars, and cranks. Not major at all. I was pleased with the results of the oxalic acid bath. Other than that, it was clean and polish.
