A.K.A. "How to stiffen your fender stays for camera mounting."

Thought you'd get a kick out of it. The cane stiffens the stays on the right, while the yardstick on the left works as a leaf spring, counteracting the pull of the cane (which would send the stay adjusters into the sidewall otherwise).

Also have these two others from an earlier shot:

I think I would have gotten a disposable steel bottle cage to twist into a camera holder, or mount a front basket with a section of the mesh cutaway.

I'll have it finished, soon enough. I need to get this segment done (the wheel shot is used during a drafting segment - somewhat of a subliminal nod to Breaking Away) before I wrap things up.

Already used the basket method before for a pedaling shot, though it sat in the back in that case. Not possible in this case, considering the position of the camera (I'm referring to the first photo).

If you can secure the camera well enough, it should not shake. Turn off image stabilization if you can too.

I'd try it only with a disposable camera...

FYI, I've done it once before, but I failed to stiffen the fender stay. Camera had far too much wobble in it for my liking:

I also happened to tap the record button off when starting out. So much for that...

Since you obviously spend a lot of time filming on a bike, I'm going to direct you towards this

in that case... attach a touring fork with a low CoG pannier rack and attach the camera to that?

I've been trying to devise a cheap Steady Cam like that for the longest time. Thanks for the link!
