123056 was built in 1984, and it is a 22" 560.

This one appears to have the rare ultralight chain option.

I'm colorblind, so I can't really be sure, but that bike doesn't look black to me. But, if it is an '84 model, it could have been repainted, had a newer than '84 head badge put on and different components.

I went straight off of the serial number on the bottom bracket. Must be missing a digit, because this is a much newer bike than 1984...the plastic cable guide on the bottom is too new.

That's the style of headbadge decal I had on my 1995 Trek MultiTrack. Same emerald green color, too.

nah, I'm sticking to my original story. This bike has seen an extensive refurbishment, but it lacks the cast lugs, bottom bracket shell, and other doodads that would make it match that head tube badge. The serial number is proper for the construction of the frame and fork.

Yeah, it looks like it could be a 22" 560 from around '84. I'm thinking it was repainted and a new head badge put on. As for the components, sometimes what comes with the bike is not what the catalogs say. They could be original to the bike. No matter what, it looks like a nice ride.

My 83 560 has Suntour Blue line. Actually had, but will have again soon. I refuse to put the "Hell"icomatic hubbed wheels back on, however. If that was a couple of inches taller, I'd be knocking on your door, hehe. It does look to be be a repaint, with the more modern headbage and no cast lugs. But, what was the first year of brazed on shifter bosses? My 83 is a clamp on style.,,,BD

not that it's of any help, but my 83 has next to no brazeons at all, just a housing stop on the right chainstay.

And helicomatics aren't that bad... until you need to replace a spoke, or repack the bearings...I just rode mine until i broke a spoke, and used it as an excuse to buy a nice new wheel.

Or if the cogs wear out. The one on my 560 was shot, so I robbed the one off my P8,,,,BD

I didn't look to see when first used on the 560, but since your '83 is a clamp on, then '84 is the first year for brazed on. At least the '84 catalog says they are brazed.
