Amazing! Thanks, Bob.

ISO: Do you have a Park Tools Spoke Tension Meter (TM-1) collecting dust? If so, send me a PM. Thanks.

rhm 03-16-14 12:54 PM

Never mind! But remind me sometime, we need to discuss how to change the mounting bolt on a dual pivot brake. I just swapped the bolt from a Shimano 1055 caliper with one from a Tektro R569, and (despite all my expectations) it worked fine. But where did these four tiny little ball bearings come from?

On topic, though... Anyone have a trashed Campy Nuovo Record rear derailleur? If so, I might want some of it... The big pieces, not the little ones.

Looking for a 1970s era Cannondale saddle bag.

Like this, preferably red or blue, and I hope in less faded condition!

I have a nice blue bag, looking for a good home. Single owner - me. It's darker than the picture because of the flash. Yours for the cost of shipping if that's ok with you. PM me to work out the details.

rhm, do I understand you correctly, that you could use the Shimano calipers you have but you prefer Tektro? Are you building a Shimano-free bike or something?

No, you don't get it, which is not your fault since I have explained nothing.

The problem was (note: past tense) I had a set of tektro long reach, recessed mount, brakes; and I wanted the same, nutted. And I had (yes, past tense) Shimano 1055 short reach calipers, nutted, but wanted recessed ones.

I seem to have solved the problems, by switching one tektro bolt for one shimano one, and all went well... But I have four tiny ball bearings that I don't know where they came from.

That's interesting, because I've recently been finding small bearings all over the floor. Headset size?

No, much smaller. I haven't measured them but I'm guessing about 1.5 mm. Really little.

Check the action on the 105 quick releases. Especially the rear one.

I've a dim memory (always) of encountering these, as I've swapped bolts several times, from tricolor up through Tektro R741.
I'll see if I can remember.

I'm hesitant to even write these words, but here goes... I'm in search of a Huffy!

Yes, I just said that. Actually, in all seriousness, I'm looking for a quirky next project and I'd love to find one of the early 60's Carlton made Huffies (Road bike style-- not the three speeds) if there are any out there going ignored or unloved. I've seen lots of model name out there for that era: constellation, corsair, centurion, catalina. I'd be interested in either a frame set or a full bike. I know I could just search for a Carlton model from then, but looking for the fun factor of the Huffy branding. Any out there?

SJX426 03-18-14 11:44 AM

@rhm Might be able to help you with the NR parts. PM me with which parts.

dweenk 03-18-14 03:35 PM

I am looking for any parts for Suntour ratcheting Barcons. Heavy emphasis on the bolt and nuts.

Want: 140mm (+-5) quill stem
Have: Normal sized stems

ilikebikes 03-19-14 11:35 AM

SOLD SOLD SOLD HAVE: 1953-ish? NOS GB SuperHoods in white. Full hoods, still in orig plastic wrap, never opened, still supple, like new condition. Can be cut with a razor to make half hoods if half hoods are what you want, I personally wouldn't do it as hens teeth would be an easier find than these GB hoods.

WANT: I can use a set of Maxxis Hookworm 26x2.5", 1950s balloon tire bike stuff, nothing in particular, tell me what you got. :)
You can PM me with other offers. Thanks.

Wow, sincere thank you for pointing that out. I got excited, but yeah, looks like a slightly newer one, not Raleigh made as the seller says, and seems to be from when, well... when yeah, Huffy made their own cheap bikes. Non lugged, not even cottered crank.

But honestly, thanks a ton for pointing it out. Much appreciate the kindness with the lead!

Rudy, check the plastic washer. There are tiny bearings inside the washer on the BR-1055 bolt assembly.
