I asked the same thing recently, and I ended up buying this. Not too ugly, and the price is right.

Campy Stratos Shifter
ISO:
Campagnolo 8-Speed Stratos Shifter: Right side.
The campy code for the shifter is EC-02ST.
Trying to restore my '94 Cannondale R600. The right shift lever broke, so I'm open to just a lever, the whole shifter, or a pair of shifters. The index and thumb are one-piece.
Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Looking to upgrade my '84 PGN10 with some weight weenie bling. I've got a NOS B10 (BSA) laying around but I think alloy A9 might look better with my PGN's gunmetal paint? Anyone got a complete A9 (BSA) laying around, I seem to remember a lot of Trek and Raleigh bikes in the 80s had them?
If it's in really nice shape I'll trade for my NOS B10 straight up. Or... whaddya need? I might have it, especially if it's French or Italian.

It would be nice if someone would re-introduce this sort of headset to production. I'd buy several if they would make them again.

Why wait? They pop up on eBay all the time, selling for anywhere from $25 to $80. Looks like the typical sweet spot is about $50-$60. That makes it competitive with V-O's Grand Cru headset (sealed bearings), and not really much more than their cheaper VO alloy headset (caged ball bearings).

Doesn't Miche or somebody still make roller bearing headsets? It seems like they have a more conical looking top and don't really look vintage, but, if you want needle bearings, they are out there. Or were a couple of years back.

Ouch - that's going to be a tough one. Compass makes the new Herse cranks in 177. Maybe drop Jan a line and see if they would sell you an orphan NDS arm. https://www.compasscycle.com. I paired a 172.5 VO arm with a TA DS arm that I'd been looking for a mate for for years.

While V.O. does make headsets that look nice and are of acceptable quality, my understanding is that they are not of the needle bearing design (which I happen to like a lot).

I think we should close this thread and restart it. I'm on the last page but it keeps telling me (wrongly) that there is another past this one.

^ Yes, it's a known issue. I am skeptical a close/open dance would help.
