Top, I think I may have one of these so I'll take a look when I get home tonight; it may not be in the prettiest cosmetic condition but it will be clean, polished, and functional if you're interested.

Any skilled machinist can put a 2mm chamfer on each side of the BB. You do not need to buy a tool just to install 1 mavic BB. Only if you plan on installing multiples then it is easier to have a hand tool that you can operate yourself.

if you are good with a half-round file, you don't need "any skilled machinist", either. ;)

If these will work, you can have them when you come up. I only have three, #4 is MIA

Top--

It slipped my mind that I traded off my SunTour CompeV FD a few months ago; good luck finding a replacement.

I even have a few NOS Leather seats that are in pretty good shape to trade for a complete matching clean wheelset(front and rear) that is 27",alloy and has a hooked bead and will take a freewheel

WTB Shimano 8 speed brifters

Looking for decent 8 speed brifters to convert a downtube shifter bike into a brifter bike for my daughter.

I have a pair of Soras in very good condition, there was another C&Ver interested in them, but he faded away. If I can find the old PM I'll check with him but they probably are available...PM me if I don't PM you first.

to Top: I might have some kind of SunTour Compe FD, don't remember the model, but I'll dig it out in the next couple days...PM me if you don't get one before then.

Homebrew01 06-23-09 12:10 PM

I've never used Sora, but have heard the thumb shifter is awkward to use and that they're not great. Am I wrong ? Would a 12 year old girl have trouble with them ?

unworthy1 06-23-09 12:44 PM

I don't have any 12 YO girl to test it out on, but several of my co-workers (also cyclists) have small hands, I can ask one to try and see what she thinks. They aren't the top of the range, that's certain, but they are *almost* new.
Anyway, if Bob Barker's are better please go with them, cause the previous interested party is still interested, so I'm not super-motivated to sell (or trade) out from under him (which he'd be OK with, he says).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the "w/o" indicate that it's not a hooked bead rim? I was under the impression it meant "without hook". I feel like the reason I think this is because I've seen older versions where it says "w/o HP" - without high pressure. If that's not what it means what does it stand for? Probably something obvious

nlerner 06-23-09 02:00 PM

I thought w/o = wired on; w/o HP = wired on high pressure

Seems like an odd expression, but I figure w/o indicates to use a wire-bead tire.

ISO shimano 600 starfish locknut.
I have tons of stuff to trade but don't have any of it cataloged-let me know if you are looking for something specific

I guess that makes just as much since as "without." It amounts to the same thing if either of us is correct.

redneckwes 06-23-09 06:22 PM

Bar end plug problem is solved, thanks to John and Neal.

If you're still looking, I have one. It has some chain wear on the inside of the cage but otherwise it looks decent.

unworthy1 06-23-09 10:48 PM

Top, Go with Iowegian's cause the one I found is not a Compe V (but an SL) and it may be the only old SunTour FD I have...

I have a set of normandy hubs laced to rigida chrome steel rims with textured braking surface. If you were in victoria you could have them for nothing, shipping would be insane though.

I also have a simplex SX 610 derailleur with claw, but the sticker is missing, PM me if interested.

Says he's looking for a dimpled alloy rim. That's a tough one there.
