re: the great Paramount debate.

Here is the original thread when Joe found the bike.

Per the relevant Waterford pages , Paramount production started again in 1983. Joe's bike is dated 1984. So it could be a custom build, but the dating puts it in the revived Paramount production run. Either way it is a Waterford built frame. How it is labeled and presented is splitting hairs. The fact remains that it was marketed as a Schwinn Paramount.

Custom-fit, they were. As for distribution, I'd be pretty ticked off if I went to a Schwinn dealer in 1982 to order what is advertised in the 1982 Schwinn catalog as a Schwinn Paramount, and told that I can't buy a Schwinn Paramount or order a Schwinn Paramount at a Schwinn dealer.

Furthermore - explain to me, under that logic, why the Waterford-built Paramount Elite and Standards are listed in the 1984 Schwinn catalog. Also, please explain to me why the Custom Paramount is labeled, in the ad copy, as a Schwinn Paramount.

What's more, the Paramount standards in the catalog carry the 1983 rainbow decals:

Dispute that.

Case closed.

P.S.: Are you suggesting that if it wasn't built at the Chicago cage, it isn't a "real Schwinn Paramount?"

I don't mind that so much, it's just that he has to invent (reinvent?) the most incontestable topics possible.

I love it when these guys get in the cage together!
I have a couple possibilities: a Flight in dark blue with some issues; a Selle Italia SuperLeggere (made by same factory as one of the early Avocet Racing I, has alloy rails and one cosmetic issue)

Speaking of which, I could use some brown, Toshi stitch-on bar covers.

EDIT: Also need Campagnolo toe clip mounting hardware - the 4 bolts and washers needed to mount a pair of toe clips to a pair of Campagnolo pedals, like so:

Well, what color is the Mexico? I have a beat to crap Flite that I can get for you, or I can just use that one. Your choice.

Otto Rax I'd be very interested in the Modolo calipers and levers; I have an Ideale 80 that's in excellent condition, as well as a tan Selle Anatomic and a chocolate Selle San Marco, both suede and softer than the Ideale. I could have a polished NR 2-bolt seatpost lying around in a box as well.

Just considering options

Have: DA 7700 front and rear hubs. 28h. Titanium hub body. NOS. Mavic reflex rims. 28h. A few storage scratches, but also NOS.

Consider trading for: Similar components or wheelset with 32h or 36h- something a 220lber can ride. Must be 130mm, 8/9/10 speed shimano compatible. Wouldn't mind a downgrade if trading for complete built up wheels. I am not sure I want to do this, but I am thinking about it.

This stuff is in Arizona.
