True. I have noticed lots of vintage Campy groupsets on eBay lately. I don't recall seeing that before, but perhaps I just missed it, while shaking my head in disbelief at people "parting out" brakes. I haven't bitten on any of them (even NR sets aren't pocket change). It seems like most of them are coming out of Europe. I imagine that might be a tactic to keep shipping costs down to the US. It's probably worth a quick scan.

Your fastest bet is probably going to be velocals. I've had good luck with Cyclomondo from down under. Either one could probably hook you up with just the one decal.

Yes, right you might be. But I thought I would ask here first. Give a fellow BF'er a chance to trade that worthless, not needed piece if vinyl away

I appreciate your directions to those 2 possibilities.

Good thought. Coincidentally, I have an extra French 531 fork decal - but no frame decal.

I have had pretty good luck copying images from the internet, and having a print shop print out vinyl stickers.

Hello, I am searching for a set of Ambrosio Excellence rims I hope to lace to my Campy hubs. Looking specifically for the 32h black clinchers. The ones with the gold badge and Excellence stickers, not the newer red & white labeled version you can get on Amazon. I've included a picture below. Anyone looking to offload a set of these?

Anybody happen to have a long cage Simano RD? Looking to build a 1x10 CX bike that can handle a 34t cog. Looks are not important, just functionality.

I think what you want is one of the Deore deraileurs: XT, XTR, or LX. The early LX are overlooked so are still cheap.

I think the 5700 may come in a long-cage that would work. My 5700GS medium cage works with a 32... not sure if it handles a 34. I do know the 6700 GS RD will not handle the 34t.

My CX/gravel recommendation, for a 1x10, is actually not Shimano. The clutched RD's from SRAM (Shimano has them, too) keep a constant chain tension, even over that wide range. My CX/gravel build also uses a "narrow-wide" chain ring that has longer teeth and alternating narrow/wide teeth to correspond with the narrow/wide links of the chain. Used in cojunction with the clutched RD, you can run a nice wide range (44t + 11-34) and not worry about chain slap or drops.

I gathered this info before I started putting together the parts, and talked to the local CX guys. Apart from needing a more mid-range chain ring (44t vs their 38's and 40's), I pretty much followed their directions.

At one time, I had a 9sp 7700 long-cage RD running 53/39 and 12-32, and it worked fine. If I'd wanted to run that as a 1x10, I think it would have worked fairly well. It just seemed like a waste of a good set of 9sp DT shifters, a rare RD and cassette at the time.

If you go with the recommended Deore RD, I think that 's a good idea, but get a chain catcher for the front, and added a narrow-wide front ring if you can. The wide range can easily send the chain out for Chinese....

Yet another example of "a little knowledge is dangerous"... Great advice. I hadn't thought about that and you have potentially saved me a lot of headache. I was looking at a Deore RD but the SLX has the clutch feature for only a few bucks more. This isn't a serious competition build, just a "$#!ts and giggles" build. But it's good to know what to look for.

Totally unsolicited thought: I was reading about Trans Iowa and Dirty Kanza lately, and did a thought experiment to figure out what the most bulletproof "gravel" drivetrain would be. Probably fixed-gear, but with the desire for multiple gears and a freewheel for descending hills I ended up at a Sturmey-Archer AW, geared low-ish. No derailleurs to jam up or go out of adjustment, and no chance of chain drop.

You'll definitely want a clutch derailleur and a NW chainring. I have both shimano and sram. get a med. cage too. Sram beat shimano when you start adding aftermarket cassette conversion kits but if you stick to stock 11-34 cassettes, either will be fine.
