Need help to identify my bike frame

I think original bike color was light blue, and than chainstay and seat stay was painted black and than whole
bike were painted brown. I want to find out original look of this bike so I can strip all paint and paint it
as it was original. I found several similar bicycle pictures browsing the internet, but never found the same
bike, and I do not know a lot about retro bike brands so I hope someone will be able to help me.

Serial number on bottom bracket is G162285 and there says "modele VITUS depose", there is some markings on the
connections of crossbar and down tube. Bottle holder and handlebars are maid in Italy, stem is SAKAE, and
the seat post bolt is SUGINO. Components are SHIMANO RX100 and rear derailleur is SHIMANO 105.
And I could not find any frame with seat stay tube ends (at seat tube connection) looking like this one.

Most likely from the 80's.
Assuming you got the Vitus name from the bottom bracket cable guide. That is a component that Vitus made for their bonded aluminum frame sets. Lugs are possibly French in origin.
What is marked on the bottom bracket adjustable cup for threading?

I THINK those are "EISHO" (Japanese) lugs but that means nothing per the country of origin since they were used by many brands/builders outside of Japan, same for the Vitus plastic guide: not exclusive to French-made bikes.
Threading of the BB, the fork and size of seat post will tell us something more.

Stem is 22mm and seat post is 25,9mm precisely. I do not have time now to disassemble fork but will do it in a few days for sure.
And there is pics of BB.

From the caliper reading for the o.d. of the cartridge it looks like shell must be BSC/ISO. The 66mm reading for the shell width caught my attention. Have had a number of British bikes come through the workshop whose shells measured 66.5mm. Always assumed this was because it was a convenient fractional size but have no hard information. Wonder if frame might turn out to be British despite Nippon lugset. Belgium and Netherlands also employ a fair amount of frame building materials from Japan.

the caliper reading looks to be 68mm (not 66) so even tho I can't confirm that it's 1.37" x 24tpi, I'd agree that's the safe bet. A 25.9mm seatpost is just plain weird, better to pull it out and read what size is stamped on it cause that's not a common size at all.
What brand (if there is one stamped) are the dropouts and forkends?

Gitane also used those guides on some steel frames, possibly other manufacturers as well.

Yes. The current components may not be original and won't help much in identifying the builder. The frame does look like a decent, mid-level frame.

The first thing that I'd be doing is pulling the fork and checking for a manufacturer and date code. The seat post size puts it down into hi-tensile steel territory, so it merits a 2nd measurement and check for stamped sizing. Also, check to make sure that it's not an undersize post, which would be readily apparent from a cinch slot that would be pinched at the top.

Frame features do appear to indicate 1980s but lack of any identifying embossing would seem to eliminate the major brands. Based on the BB, I'd say it's almost certainly ISO threading. The lugs are not Eisho. The serial number could be reverse engineered for at least a couple different Asian manufacturers but I'll hold off on further speculation pending evidence from the forks and dropouts.

Well "mea culpa" yet again: I know we have seen investment-cast and perhaps conventional stamped lugs with that logo before and I had thought they MIGHT be from Long Shen, but SOMEbody corrected me and was authoritative enough that I thought is was concluded that that's the "Eisho" logo... but I'm just repeating stuff I have no first-hand proof for.
How "internet" of me!
But there's at least one (this) logo that Long Shen uses for IC lugs and it's different to this "square" logo so...I have to say I have no idea who made the lugs.
Do you know who, T-Mar?

Thank you unworthy1!

One would think that by the time a person reaches my advanced annuation they would have learned how to read a vernier caliper!

No, I don't recognize the logo either. All I could do is name about a dozen companies that it isn't.

I have disassembled the fork, and it only say "LUNG I TAIWAN", diameter is 25.2mm. Seatpost is 26.0mm and it say MADE IN ITALY .
I have no doubt that it is good quality steel frame from 80's and I was thinking that there was not so many unbranded mid-quality
road bikes. Think that I will never found actually brand or original look of bike.
And I was right about first second and third layer of paint.

Hello Cenga

Have you already identified your bike?
Because i got the exactly same bike (on first sight) and need identifing it too!

On bottom it says also Modele Vitus depose, the model number, i think, is 6222847, (or G222847, cant read it properls)
on the handlebar it says "Italmanubri" instead of made in italy like yours.

First color was also light blue, second color is now orange.

The bike is very old, its possible to be from 80s.

Thank you.
