Info on Ross signature model, anyone?

I have an older Ross signature model road bike. It has the shimano 600 grupo. Serial number on the bottom is: 200 2312 and on a second row, 01 82 009. I have read a few posts on the ross sig model, but reference is made on 290, 290s, 292's....Mine doesn't say a model anywhere, unless it's one of those above numbers I listed. It is signed by "Jim Redcay" on the chain stay. Any info would be great!

You have one of the "geniune" Ross Signature bikes, and as such, better quality than the other bikes you referenced. Tom Kellogg started the Ross Signature program - handbuilt bikes that are often beautifully made. Jim Redcay is another fine builder who took over the "Signature" program when Kellogg left Ross. Those other Signature bikes you mentioned are mostly production models that piggybacked off the reputation Kellogg established, but which were built in Asia and were of nowhere near the same quality. In the case of yours, the chainstay decal is a determining factor - you have a truly special bike - congratulations.

Sounds like an awesome bike you have there. I think Ross bikes were very underated and did'nt get as much credit as they deserve. You may check the thread below and see if there is any info that might help. I know Randy Ross watches this forum a little so he may be thrilled to see one of these. Also I'd love to see some pics of it if you can...

Anybody know the history of Ross bikes?

Thanks for the info. I will take some pic's and post later tonight or tomorrow morning. I got the bike from a ross dealer that closed up in '89. Any idea what date mine was built? I have a couple of colnago's and a Raliegh Record (love the gold chain!) This one has braze-ons, could be a touring bike, it has campy drop outs.

Yeah, I had a 292s and yours is leaps and bounds nicer. The lug work on mine was very rough in some areas. Like the others said, yours is the real thing and worth a pretty penny.

FYI.....Just found that the "second row" serial numbers, 01 82 009 was for "Built in Jan, 1982, 9th frame of that style built. My Shimano codes date the 600 AX/Deore grupo code EG = July, 1980 and wheelset/hubs code FD = April, '81

I posted this on another thread.......Thought it would fit here too...........

"I spoke to Tom Kellogg about my bike because I had a few questions. He took time out of his busy schedule to write me back. He stated that he left in the middle of '82 and that my "Redcay" signed frame might be a "Kellogg" frame. At his request, I took pic's of the right dropout and seatstay cap. He emailed back saying that in fact he built my frame! He explained that from the time he left, and Redcay took over the Signature line, he already had a few frames built, but not painted. So Ross painted them, and put Redcays decal on the frame. So.....depending when your Signature was built, you might have a "Kellogg-Recay" like me."

That is awesome, it's great that he wrote back. Make sure to print that email and document as much as you can, that is a great bike.
