I went down by the river and followed someone's shoeshoe tracks. The snow was nice and crusty, easy to ride on. My planned 30 minute ride was doubled! Too much fun, although my bronchitis recovery is still ongoing.

I'm really starting to like fat tire bikes. What's the ride like on the snow like your ride today? What are you running for tire pressure?

Since it was around 4 degrees F today, the snow was nice and crusty. Even though it's only 5-7" deep in spots, my tires were only sinking in about 1". Easy to pedal through. Tire pressure was probably around 8psi.

Just a quick ride (around 10 miles) into town and back to stretch my legs. Temperature was around 80 and humid. I smiled the whole way.

38 mile ride with my 14 yr old, Pinellas Trail, St Pete up to Largo and back. Him on his 86 Team Fuji, myself on 87 Bridgestone 550. mid 70's temp, mostly cloudy, light breezes. Rolled with a fellow for a few miles, he passed me, my son latched on his wheel, and I followed suit. He is a Law Student, rolling on a NICE Colnago....we rolled and chatted for a few miles till we turned off for home.

    My usual view

Sounds sticky, but fun. I hope I can go on rides like that with my kids one day. My oldest is nine. I've got a juvenile road bike in the garage just waiting to be spiffed up.

Temps in the upper 20's yesterday. I made sure to get my riding in early, to avoid being on the road when the Seahawks game ended. Made it home just in time to see them take the lead and then lose it in the last 30 seconds.

Once he gets old enough, the three bridges ride from Dunedin Brewery and back is a pretty good ride... the reward at the end is great too.

Have not tried the Beach Island/Bridges run...are there bike lanes out there? I know traffic can get pretty snarly out there...One of the bike shops runs an EARLY Fri morning loop out there...haven't tried it.

They held this year's USA Cyclocross Nationals at a park along my commute. Stopped by a few times, but never remembered to bring a camera.

Put my iPod in my pocket and got a last-chance shot as they were tearing down all the tents:

I think there are bike lanes for portions of it..the bridges have breakdown lanes, but I've never been hassled on the beach. There are so many cyclists that do that ride every weekend, but early rides are too much for me anyway, too early in the am.

I've covered darn near all of Tampa by bike, and large portions of St pete and the trails etc. Always down to ride.

The wind was blowing off the harbor about 15 knots too. I was venting with the jacket open, (!#*%!! supposedly breathable jacket) but it didn't stay open for long!
The gloves were a big mistake. Thought I could get by but...gotta use my full finger gloves. I stayed near the harbor just long enough to snap that pic, and was gone!

Great shots, Yokev. That does look like a lot of fun.

I finally got to the point today that if the freezing fog won't go away I'll just have to ride anyway. Visibility at it's worse was about 1/4 mile so with the bright "yellow/green" jacket I felt ok. Low traffic anyway. 23 degrees for the ride with frozen ice on the jacket by the time I got back. Was on the Trek tank with 1.75" tires. Makes for a tough ride when you're pushing the same gear as the road bikes but with more surface contact between the tire and road.

View at the start. I was stupid on Tuesday (after making it through these short icy sections 4 times the week before) and tried to go through - very slowly - and discovered how quickly a bike can disappear under you when the tires slip out on ice. Live and learn - that one definitely hurt.

Eagles are back in the area waiting for calving season which has started in one pasture that I saw but will really start in February.

Horses and fog - made for a peaceful photo
