I got out for an hour today. Rain, temps about 40F. I took the UO8 because it has lights.

Sorry, no pics. Just imagine JJS's pics, but less interesting and wetter.

Now I have to clean the bike.

Definitely wet on both sides of the country. Left Spokane WA this morning to pouring rain - into Boston tonight with rain. Have a class for the week so no bike but there's a treadmill at the hotel I can use along with some weights.

Really nice ride photos and great looking bikes being showcased! I'll try to continue the water-theme, but hard to do in the desert.

Sunday was partial clouds, and the temps never got past 70F. I felt like off-roading, so I took my Specialized 'HardLife' out to the trails one last time before I strip her down for another bike.
Went exploring a road on the map that would take me to Fountain Hills through the desert. But it was gated and off limits, Indian territory and no public access.
When you get lemons, make limoncello. Turned around and rode west on the Eastern Canal (that sounds funny, eh?). Rode 19 miles enjoying the perfect temps. Will drop 20 degrees this week. (I know, that's not cold!)

My brother and I went for a ride on the MUP that passes between some livestock fields on the far side of the local university campus. We almost got run into by a loose sheep. I really should have photos.

I usually work from home Tues & Thurs, so an afternoon "lunch hour" (wink) ride is possible, though it may require working around other committments.

Did a 45 miler with my wife and some of my local cycling club this weekend, though it was a pretty flat-out affair, very hilly too, such that I couldn't take any pics.

I started out on a ride this morning. Rain and snow were in the forecast, but it just didn't look to be happening, so I took my road bike with intent of riding a 25 mile loop. I got a mile from the house when my back tire flatted. I pulled the wheel off, removed the tube, ran my fingers around inside of the tire, found nothing, put a new tube in the tire and mounted it. I rode about 200 yards before the second tube blew. I had another spare tube, but figured I didn't want to put it in until I found the cause of the second blow. I walked the bike to an area that gave me better light and a better locale to work. There I found the problem a piece of glass that could well have been obsidian imbedded in the tread. it was tiny and only just broke through to the inner part of the tire, but enough to pop the tube. I patched the second tube just to ride home. I decided I wanted to be sure everything was thoroughly checked out, and my fingers had gone pretty much wooden in the 35º temperatures. When I tested the first tube at home I found that it had been breached in two places about an inch apart. It was lucky that I chose to repair the second tube on the road rather than it. I would have missed the second hole on the first tube. Not sure why it hit two spots like that. It was a completely new experience. At home I removed the tire turned it inside out and minutely examined it to be sure there was nothing left to do further damage to my tubes. Then I put the original, repaired tube back in and remounted the tire. I'll ride tomorrow and use today to get some errands done.

My wife and I rode an 11-mile section of the Blue Ridge Parkway north of Deep Gap, NC that was closed for construction repairs. It was an amazingly quiet ride; no cars, no other cyclists, a beautiful clear and still day. The Parkway goes up and the Parkway goes down; you're climbing or screaming down a descent. Not much in between on the section we rode. Only made one pic of my Miyata at the Elk Mtn Overlook at 3795 ft. A great day out with my best cycling buddy.

I rode my Dawes Galaxy 55 miles today in Northern RI and Southern MA. It was drizzling and rainy all day, but the temp was up to about 55. 1700' elevation gain. I followed the Blackstone River for a while in MA.

In Uxbridge I stopped at Prospect Hill cemetery, which overlooks the burnt mill complex of Bernat (once Bachman Worsted Co., and Capron Mills circa 1820). The yarn mill burned down in 2007. It took 3 days to put out the fire.

I stopped at this park and tried to find the lock to the Blackstone Canal without success. I rode this muddy rail bed for a couple of miles.

I rode to work today and with the dog this morning for 45 minutes. It's was -27 celcius. That is about -16.6 F...

without the wind chill. those are actual temps.

I like to ski at subzero, as long as it's not too windy. Being out in the woods on the old classic wide boards is a really great thing. Usually you've got the park all to yourself. Gotta wear the wind shorts at that temp though; or Larry, Darryl and Darryl would object. Anything below about 10 degrees and it's a wash between skating and classic anyway...

Getting my riding in with my "other job". An hour last night, an hour this morning, another hour tomorrow, then Sunday too. Add in a little XC ski on the thin pack we have and it's hard to get too out of shape.

Yes below -25 skiing become a bit slow and coolist. That is what fatbikes are for! Though the going is pretty tough at those temps. Everything is resisting motion.

The inch or so of snow we got last night was supposed to go away by mid-morning so we planned to take the tandem out for a few hours. Unfortunately "they" salted the roads pretty heavily last night so we decided the bike didn't need the electrolyte abuse. Instead I took the Bertin out for a bit of Belgian orange fun. Home to Concord and back, 33.4 miles, moving avg speed 13.0mph, max speed 34.2mph.

More orange. But why would they salt a road that is closed? Sometimes the mind of the public servant completely escapes me.
