Let us not forget Drakes Bay Oysters, Hog Island Oysters, Tomales Bay Oysters, Nicasio Cheese Company, Rouge et Noir Cheese Company, Tomales Bakery, and the Station House Cafe.

... Yes, I'm spoiled. If I drove instead of pedaled to all these fine establishments I would be both spoiled and fat!

Went out for a 62 km out and back, meeting up with my riding buddy halfway out. He overslept, and we agreed to meet at another point, later on. For some unexplained reason, he decided on a totally different route, which never even reached the meeting point. So I rode alone, for 145 km. Out to the north coast; then west; then back south. A route I've ridden many times, but not in the past year. Yet another magnificent day!
Can't upload pics--have to wait for another time. The computer and internet are acting very strangely this morning.

Decided to put in some road riding yesterday, so I took out my Bianchi Premio to do my routine 25-mile local suburban loop. I haven't ridden in a week, but my legs felt fitter during two rounds of climbs. Much better than last time I was there, when I got dropped and gasping for air.
It was in the high 80s F! Thank heavens it was partially cloudy. I was sweating in a short-sleeved jersey. Much too warm for mid Feb. Concerned what this Summer will be like.
    No pics....no camera.

Aha, it may be a widespread issue then. We had a good storm here yesterday, a few times, with sun mixed in. It was mostly a good steady rain, but the wind was hitting 60 MPH at times, and I was riding straight into it at times. But that's easier than trying to steer straight, when that same wind hits you SIDEWAYS, LOL. But it was worth it, I went to the top of Queen Anne hill, to buy a nice ALPS Mountaineering 20 degree sleeping bag. I'm fairly stubborn, when I make up my mind I'm going to do something.

    Presidents Day Ride 2014

I missed my Dawes so much that I went out in my shed last night after the wife and kids went to bed and installed a Simplex S061 rear derailleur, recently given to me, to make it at least partially operational. My Suntour rear derailleur is all fused up from winter riding and neglect. I also swapped the 6 speed winner pro freewheel for a 5 speed perfect. Frankenstein by flashlight.

    It's alive!

    (from my blue period)

Furnace Hill Brook, 25 years later still makes me think of Busch beer.

13 miles today in 50 minutes didn't seem too bad. 26 degrees and sunny, roads are a mess. The Dawes was a 1x5 today; 42 x 14-23. My Challenge Almanzos almost washed out on slushy ice a couple of times.

We're getting bombed with snow. I think this winter is a Pilgrim winter. Tomorrow 2-4 inches forecast. A banner year for sledding with the kids. Cycling not so much. California dreaming.

I tried to coax that ft derailleur into shifting on the way home to no avail. I wonder why.

OK; now maybe I understand the appeal of electronic shifting.

I rode the length and breadth of Italy, in 1974.

Roads are too narrow from plowed snow to comfortably share them with auto traffic, trails are covered in ice, stupid winter.

I'm surprised this thread isn't on the front page - hopefully it's because everyone is out riding! The east coast finally got some well-deserved sunshine and warmth.

I took my caad9 for its maiden outdoor voyage. No complaints.

Local park trails and surrounding roads near a wildfowl art museum - 55 degrees. I've been trying out different handlebar configurations on the beater - hence the weird cheapo stem (it's convenient).

I made a point to get out today, the temp made it up to 50 degrees. I rode the Dawes with has those nice Challenge Almanzo tires to tackle all the salt and sand still on the roads. It rides so nice, it's just a few tweaks away from perfection.

47 miles today in Cranston-Scituate-Coventry-West Greenwich and back; all in RI. Conditions were nice, a little windy, but really sloppy with all the melting snow.

Nice to see the weather startingt to warm up JJ. I'm spending a few weeks in Florida, but my son called yesterday and said he got out for about 30 miles and it wasn't so bad. I hear the temps are going back to the teens with snow by midweek though. Do you have any interest in this? http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ail-Trail-Ride
I'd be happy to give you and your bike a ride as I have a pickup truck.

    Springtime in SoCal

    unnamed.jpg

Out running some errands and caught a couple innings of college baseball at Blair Field in Long Beach. Notice the palm frond kick stand!

Rain is predicted, finally, for later this week. We really need it - this has been the dryest year in recorded history. I was up in the local mountains last week and checked out one of my favorite trout streams (San Antonio Creek.) Its almost completely dry. I'm concerned for the trout,

I'm breaking in and tweaking my new track racing bike, so I rode it Saturday and yesterday. Saturday, I rode it to rehearsal. From there, I went to visit my mother. My wife met me there. She was riding her new cross bike for the first time. The racing saddle was torture for her, so we swapped before heading home. The saddle was almost as bad for me as it was for her. I could barely think by the time we got home.

Yesterday, I put my new RHM saddle on my track bike, and we rode down the river path just for fun. It was nice to have such a warm and sunny weekend. Sunlight is so good for me.

The RHM (#31) saddle is a winner. The first few minutes, it felt very hardy soon enough, I found how to situate my butt on it. I think I'm going to love it.

It snowed and rained all weekend here in the Northwest. I had a couple hours to kill after dropping off my Daughter at youth group last night, so I rode the Centennial Trail. It was just plain wet, nonstop for 30 miles.

I hid under a bridge for a few minutes here.

Yep, it's normally in the 40sF here, breaking into the low 50s at times, and dipping down into the 30s pretty often at night. It makes me think of that GnR song, about the cold November rain. Would you believe, it's still raining now?
