It was... er... no longer identifiable. Lots of guts, though. Rabbit maybe? Honestly, given the amount of fluffy white fur, my first thought was someone's little white yappy dog or a kitten . He had picked it totally clean when I got back, too.

No one cares
i rode 30 miles round trip via a local bike path to my new job. It was around 30 degrees (less with the wind chill) both leaving in the morning and coming home. It was dark when I left for the first 30 minutes or so, and coming home was dark for the entire ride.
This was the first ride on brand new Pasela TG's. Unfortunately 4-5 miles into the morning commute a huge nail rips into the rear tire. So goes my luck. I threw in a new tube since there was no time to patch and went on my way. At least the tire is still ridable.
I stopped for a few pics next to the frozen canal I pass. I was riding my 80's Lotus Eclair Tourer. It was loaded up with a bunch of stuff as I had a bunch of extra stuff to bring to put in my gym locker. The bike probably weighed 50-60 pounds easy.
My stupid halogen headlight has a bad connection and isnt working. Luckily I'd brought a backup flashlight plus a headlamp because I figured this would be the case. A Supernova e3 is on the way.

Rode 18 miles on the Sports. I'm now determined that next fall, I'm going to make it into The Best Winter Bike Ever: lower the gearing, and definitely new pedals (slippery when wet, those old one are. I sound like Yoda). Maybe aluminum rims, but so far the steel is braking just fine even when ridden through large puddles. Those two upgrades will be cheap and make it work better, I know. Rims, maybe... maybe not. And it needs a new B66, since the 40 year-old B72 is uncomfy and saggy. I suppose I could lace it up or something, but I'd rather have one that's perfect for my butt.
All in all though, a fun ride under a moody sky. Didn't like the headwind that at one point made me nearly stand still, but it was great on the way back .

I rode my way too big Schwinn Continental to one of my favorite XC ski destinations in town. It was perfect for the job..
Strapped my Bushwackers on my bag and away I went to search out the stash of 12+ inches of fresh snow. No pictures of me and the bike together unfortunately, so you'll have to look at my gear instead and trust me
My buddy Steve ready to follow in my tracks
Winter scenery at the "Brick Yards"

No pics just a nice day (70 F) after the office closed at 11:30 AM due to all of our servers in the Boston area going down.
It was nice to ride home in full sun and light traffic. It's usually dark by the time I make it to my place.

I went for a nice ride on the trail to scope it out to see if I could start commuting on it again. probably not happening until I get my studded tires:
here's the same canal I posted a few posts above with my Lotus. Now I'm riding on it.
before you super observant and anal readers notice, my seat post kept slipping, hence the low position in the pics. Has since been rectified
I'm really liking the internal geared hub, especially the part where I can shift while stopped.

Thursday evening, my beloved cat, Booger, died in my wife and my arms. So yesterday evening, I took his remains to the vet to have him cremated. I would have buried him in our yard, but the ground is frozen.
Here is my bicycle hearse. I used the cooler for transport.
I got a flat on the way home, on the front. I didn't want to fix it, so I just walked home. It was about a mile.

RIP, Booger! So sorry about your loss, Tom. We have a cozy cat graveyard in our backyard; fortunately, they all passed in warmer seasons.

Been riding the usual rides around the Valley Of The Sun, so not much in the way of new photos. I did take a picture last week of Four Peaks covered in snow:
Also came across this open garage, note the bicycle content on the left side, along with a vintage motorcycle and a Karman Ghia outside under the carport, by the line of vintage gas pumps.
You'd think all this climbing would make me faster, but it doesn't seem to be.

The ice finally left the roadways the past couple days - high 30's and rain/wet roads. But, who cares I just had to get out.

Riding in sunny North Alabama. After a week recovering from largest snowfall since 1963/64 we were able to make a 24 mile ride and reward the effort with bar-b-que at local restaurant. Weather in the 30's at the start ending in the low 40's. We ain't used to this stuff. Riders are seenoweevil, bbacker and el segundo riding vintage Univega, Bianchi and Trek.

Mostly Mischief
While I really want to complete my C&V Century Challenge for January, alas, not today. Past lunch start, waiting for reasonable temps, thwarted the attempt. But I did get a metric one in the bag: 65 miles in 3:40.
Rode the Look 753 and thought on 3 or more occasions that a seat stay had come undone (thanks to a recent thread about the pros and con's of 753)

We have unplowed streets here in St. Paul, so the kids and I went skiing today!
Very difficult to ride, without a doubt.
Congrats on your ride.

Had a "fun" 11-mile ride in the pouring rain today, so I posted it on my new blog (no, I won't do this every time. Just at first to get folks there to read about it). Please check it out and leave me comments. I promise to be mildly amusing and there are some rain-soaked pics, like this one:

Thanks for the welcome. I had the pleasure to visit St. Paul a few times before retiring from 3M. Although it seems like I was always there in the winter with snow on the ground and frozen lakes. Like the area and would like to visit again in warmer weather and maybe bring a bike. Thought about doing the Three Speed Tour around Lake Pepin.
