I took a nice 30 mile ride today in great conditions. High 40's and sunny, no wind. Going to be even nicer tomorrow (so they say), hopefully I'll get out again. I'm planning to ride a 60 miler on Tuesday, my 60th birthday. Hope the weather cooperates. Anyway, I got a couple of pictures with a bit of history, I suppose.

All that remains of the site is an old cellar hole. I couldn't get too close because it is protected with barbed wire.

Just a nick over 76 miles today, would've liked to get a hundred in but had a late start and shorter daylight hours. Amusing myself, briefly got lost in one area but somehow looped back on track. My mind drifted thinking would be a great area for redneck criterium racing. Single lane beat-up roads, short steep climbs, fast rollers, tight radius corners, complete with a saloon on the lake, $1 Bud's, slot gambling and some serious christmas decor. hoho

@otg- Canterbury CT is such a beautiful place to ride. I took Jim Muller there a few years ago. There are some tough hills in those parts. Moses Cleveland is buried in a particularly cool cemetery in that town. Lots of beautiful stones. There is a point on route 14 heading west from Canterbury towards Scotland (near Westminster Church) where you can see the tops of three steep hills down the road. Some tough sledding.

I rode 55 miles today and watched the last Verge New England cyclocross race in East Greenwich RI at Goddard Park. No pics so maybe it didn't happen...

On the Trainer, 3 X 20 minutes at 85% of FTP. You forget what it's like to do a strong effort for a while at this time of the year

@JJScaliger, I can get to the corner of route 14 and route 169 in Canterbury in less than 10 minutes from my home. I use route 169 from the center of Pomfret to that corner when I ride to work. Great road, but certainly some difficult hills! I have not headed up into Scotland yet, but I will in the future, thanks for the tip! I do remember Jim Muller talking about riding with you in CT a while back and he did mention some hills. The weather is looking promising today, I'm hoping to have time to get out again this afternoon.

Today I rode the Tommasini along the canal path on a picture perfect Arizona Winter day. The path has been recently extended and I was looking forward to exploring the new section. Ended up riding 53 miles on a mostly car-less route. This was also a shakedown ride for some new gear: a Fabric Scoop Shallow Elite saddle, and Continental Grand Prix 4000S II tires. Everything performed great!

Exploring areas perhaps I shouldn't venture to. Back boonie, gravel roads and came upon this shack. Took a few more funny pics but too profane for this site. Didn't find any dead bodies but truthfully, wasn't that brave to snoop around for long. Nor was I carrying. LOL

Wow, this is a tough crowd to hang with! And that's even without the hills of eastern Connecticut. (Hills? I don't remember any hills. :D)

Yesterday I took the Motobecane out for 51.3 miles. Took a few pics in the uncharted wilderness beyond Concord's northern frontier. Apparently there are people living there, domesticating the land. Whodathunkit?

I went out for my monthly century yesterday (this one is actually supposed to be my November Century, but I'm a bit behind). Got out of the house before 6 AM and rode 46 miles before meeting a friend so we could do our usual loop, which is about 65 miles. My 46 miles replaced 9 miles of that 65, so I was expecting a total around 102 miles.

Unfortunately Andy arrived with a cold and didn't feel up to the full loop. Argh! I ended up with a total of 86 miles.

Alas, the mink will not get to rest in peace. My wife and I later drove back up to Harlingen and collected his mortal remains and he may serve to edify visitors to her classroom. After a visit to the taxidermist, that is.

Just revived my '96 C40 and took her on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is my turnaround point at US 60 near Buena Vista (pronounced "Byuna Vista" in these parts) VA. It was a little chillier than I expected so it was tough leaving this sunny warm kitty spot before heading back down to the James River.
