My son and I got out the other day. He's never been to the north end of the Centennial trail, so we loaded the Tandem on the car and drove to Arlington. the ride is about 17 miles round trip.
We got up to end of the trail, where the red barn is. The barn was built in 1908.
The temperature was a bit cooler than I expected, and Thomas had some pretty cold toes when we got to the barn. Luckily, someone installed this nifty "foot insulator" dispenser. They might not look like much but the kept his feet warmer on the return trip. Chuck Taylors are great shoes, but don't work to well at 34 degrees and 14mph.
We packed with us, some hot cocoa.

Yes, it was cold in the northeast this weekend. Since we had a foot of snow here a few days ago we did our riding on x-c skis.

I rode down to the co-op to help cover the Sunday shift, swapped out the chainring on my fixed gear while it was quiet and re-packed the bottom bracket while I was at it.
Now I can do seated skids with ease.

Feeling under the weather curtailed my riding to Sunday. It was unseasonably warm at 80F in Phoenix!
I returned to the Saguaro Trail under bright sunny skies this time. No falls only one bloody incident with a tree branch catching a couple fingers. Slowly but surely improving my mtb-ing.

Well, it snowed again last night (only 2 inches) but by noon the streets were looking passable, so I put my arctic suit on and took the Kelly out for a ride. I gotta ride. I managed 32 miles. Temp was 28 degrees with a steady 10-15 mph wind. The sun was out and shining brightly!
I didn't take a lot of pictures, but I'm a firm believer in pics or it didn't happen, so here's what I got.

I was trying to set up a good angle and lighting for a pic when I noticed my feet were painfully cold so I said screw it and just rode home.
I noticed this when I took my shoes off at home.
I bought these shoes as old stock from a lbs in 1998. A little shoe goo and they will be back in service!

I've had a low grade flu for most of the last two weeks. I got a couple rides in, but always returned over-tired. Today I popped out of bed, on a very cold morning. When I left at 10:30 it was still in the mid 70s. 20 km out and then back again, averaging in the upper 20s kmph. The second day I can remember, in 6+ years here, riding in no wind conditions. The other time was two years ago, on an equally magnificent day. No wind, and not one single cloud. Blue blue skies. Kinda wishing spacemanz was around. That kinda day.

It's been in the 40s & 50s F here, which makes it hard to dress for the weather. Plus it rains when it's in the right mood, and yesterday & today it's windy as heck at times. I rode over to Redmond again on Wednesday, and found the far side of town this time. At the end of that particular section of the Sammamish River Trail, there's an underpass for bikes & pedestrians, that's flooded pretty good, and if you go a VERY long ways around roughly a city block with a busy freeway next to it, you'll find that the cement sidewalk loops back around, into that same flooded underpass, but from the other direction. 
Once I realized I was the butt of some twisted cosmic joke, I sat down right next to that said freeway, & burned one.

Gore-Tex is great, but the old stand-by wool socks is next best. Plus a wool sweater, if needed, but that gets TOO warm sometimes.

Our grocery store is 11 miles away in the nearest town of any size. There are a couple of nice dirt alternatives to taking the paved road.
It was another gray day with light rain but the California Buckeyes are starting to leaf out: They're always the first ones, so Spring must be on its way.
