Roger, I love the pics of the Pacific Northwest. When I scrolled by your pictures, I had to stop and go back to see where you lived because I recognized the terrain. I grew up about five miles inland from the central Oregon coast and your pics looked like they could have been in my parents backyard. I miss the scenery from the Northwest.

I just came back from about 40 miles of riding in the hills on the West side of Colorado Springs (unfortunately no camera). I am training for a 120 mile, 10,000ft+ ride in July so naturally I was climbing as much as possible today. My plan is to ad about 5 hilly miles to each Saturday ride for the next twelve weeks, by mid July I should be able to comfortably climb all day long.

Short Ride (second of the season, after 40k last week) today, about 20kms from Brampton to Caledon Ontario and back. Testing my seat height adjustment. Did some wind sprints on the way back to get a feel for it. I am still way out of shape (didn't ride last year, year before was first riding in a very long time). Did have one incident with traffic, I was crossing from the shoulder across a turning lane, had signalled with plenty of time, and was only a few seconds across, someone behind didn't think I should be there and honked. I might have delayed him by a few seconds.

I rode 40 miles on the De Rosa this afternoon. The weather is absolutely beautiful today! 65-70 degrees and sunny; a little windy, but after this winter I am definitely not complaining. I rode in Scituate, Glocester and Cranston. 16.4 mph average; my best so far this year.

38 miles, about half on gravel today. Also led a morning indoor cycle class for an hour at my local Y.

A couple pics: One of a train that was mainly NoDak oil as it was crossing the confluence of the St Croix and Mississippi at Prescott, Wisconsin. Along a quiet creek. Nice enough day, east wind at a constant 12-15 or so made the gravel that much slower going out.

Thanks turkey lurkey. I feel pretty fortunate to live where I do.

Today I got out for a few hours, but it started out with a flat less than a mile from home. I piled up a couple of recent routes and headed east and north. The weather was dry with a few clouds, and upper 40s to 60ish by the end of ride. Spring feels real good..
First stop was out in Sultan




I had lunch at Lake Roesiger(Cliff bar & water). Back in the day I waterskied this lake a few times with a friend who's folks had a cabin on this lake.That was over 30 years ago, good times..





I ended up turning back at Lochsloy, where I caught the trail back to Snohomish. I pass by the shoe tree more often than I care to admit.



I ended up back in town where my wife met me for lunch. A pretty nice ride with a great ending.

And all that flat land! Where I live all the cows have two legs shorter than the others so they can stand up straight on the hills. Northern hemisphere, so the cows travel around the hills in a clockwise direction.

Don't let JJS fool you. That's a trick pic. RI doesn't have that much flat land all in one place. (They're lucky if that can find that much flat land in the whole state.)

I chanced up on a bike race.





..and what seemed to be, a Yacht race too.




It was a nice ride today. Not too much sun and not cold.

The path was busy, like always, on days like today.




Thank God, finally, after much hesitation, Spring is here!

I had time for a short late morning ride. 25 miles in Cranston- West Warwick -Coventry-Scituate. I took the Dawes, tried out the new Atom 600 pedals which replaced the set I broke a couple of weeks ago. They rode fine. I did get a flat.

West Warwick is not the most scenic area in RI, but it's pretty close and I wanted to see what this dam looked like.

Great pics everyone! I always love seeing the pictures that Roger M and northbend post of the Northwest USA. Of course, the ones JJScaliger posts of Rhode Island and in that general area always leave me in a mood to explore that neck of the woods. Maybe one of these years.

In any case, today I managed to get out on my very first ride of the year. It was not a long ride, nor a strenuous ride since I got a really bad cramp in my right leg in the middle of the night and it was still hurting a good bit. Nonetheless, I *needed* to get my butt out there and riding because I knew if I didn't get out soon, I'd have to write off this entire riding season. In any case, I rode a quick out and back on the C&O Towpath and took a quick break at the Catoctin Aquaduct where I took some pictures. My steed of choice for this ride was my 1956 Hercules Royal Prince.

This thread needs more English countryside! I ran the London Marathon yesterday (official sub-3 pacer, got round in 2:58:46, job done!) and decided today would be a good day for a 55 mile recovery ride around South East London/North West Kent, before getting back to work tomorrow.

It doesn't get much more Kent than this; a converted oast house with some horses outside.



The fields round here are looking very yellow at the moment. A nice time of year when the sun is shining.

I was in East Sussex a few weeks ago. Had little time not devoted to work or eating, but I sure enjoyed the countryside. The roads in that part of the world were tiny! We saw one brave soul riding a bike on a busy road barely wide enough for two cars.
