Shame it is too large for you. Looks like a nice touring model. Touring bikes have been commanding a premium and it should sell for a pretty good price -- If you want to get specific pricing ideas post over in pricing and evaluation fourn.

Bike is a little on the tall side for me at 61" from bb to middle top tube, so I'll probably just sell it once I figure out a price for it.

ARGH! The two huge community yard sales (mine and the neighboring one) are being held the same Saturday in September. Those spring and fall sales are one of the best sources for bikes. Sometimes the haul is awesome, sometimes I have to settle for more MTB and ladies frames. Awesome is better

3. They are probably not in your local C/L. They may be in the next town, or two towns away, or a couple of states away. My last C/L scoop (two weeks ago) was four hours from where I live, one way. The one prior to that was 100 miles away.

There are probably scoopers like me in your area, and they will pounce on deals. So use other channels: garage sales, thrift stores, neighborhood newsletters, etc.
4. If and when you get a call back be prepared to get there faster than the fire department responding to a fire.

If that leather saddle has life left in it, you might want to put a different one on the bike before you sell it. That one might work out nicely on a "keeper". The bell looks pretty nice, too.

Unfortunately the bell was covered in rust, seat was the selling point of the bike haha. I don't dig on leather seats much though, and nothing is ever a keeper!

It is already wearing Nitto b115 drops and shimano aero levers with white hoods. Just need to get some bar tape (all I have is cloth) a good cleaning and I will take it for a ride. I can then sell the scyclip north road syle bars that were on it and the Diacompe bmx levers seperately. I might change the seat post too, it is a two piece and does not look right.

Picked up an 88' Miyata 512. He sold it cheap because of a cracked rim ($20). Came with low mileage Duraskins, 3T stem and Cinelli bars...58cm

a friend had some fancy 2008 fuji carbon bike with a mix of ultegra and dura ace and carbon fsa cranks. she backed into a street light with the bike on her trunk rack and the chainstays took most of the damage. she gave the bike to me to strip everything off of, saying that she only needed the frame and fork, because she was going to use it as an art project and that i could keep everything else that i wanted. so i got a near complete ultegra group for free. i traded the carbon fsa cranks for some late 90s 9spd dura ace cranks and bb, sold them, and then bought the newer ultegra cranks and bb. so i basically built it up by wheeling and dealing. or hustling. or whatever.
the parts just sat in a bag in the corner of the living room for close to a year before i finally found a frame that fit me that was worthy of all my parts. i got it complete from another tall dude for $200 on cl. with a complete shimano 600 group, 36h mavic ma40s with ZERO brake wear, and a cinelli cockpit. the frame is immaculate! and the paint has a slight glitter sheen underneath the clear coat that sparkles in the sun. unfortunately i cant pick this up with my camera, so youll have to take my word for it. i had never really heard of the miele name until i picked it up. my girlfriend is originally from missassauga, and she thinks that she heard the name before. as it turns out, her older brother has the same bike as me - only in yellow - hanging from the rafters in his garage.

Wow, so it really does belong in this thread! Nothing beats something beautiful like that as a product of wheelin' and dealin'. I love it, that's a hell of a build, cool story too. What kind of tubing is it?

This thread is great, I love seeing so many classic bikes being brought back to life!

Here's a small contribution – I found an abandoned 1989 Crescent 92317 in a backyard near my home a couple of years ago, here's an ad for it:

1989 Crescent 92317 ad by jaknudsen, on Flickr

It was in quite bad shape, with disintegrated tires and bar tape and dry bearings all around. But I think it cleaned up pretty good

It was my first road bike, and got me hooked enough to get a new Gary Fisher Ion Pro – which meant this piece of swedish steel had to go. Within an hour of posting the bike up for sale I got 10-15 enquiries – there seems to be a great demand for classic racers here in Oslo. I probably could have gotten a lot more for it than what I did!

the fork is colombus cromor, but there are no decals on the frame to say what the tubing is. colombus, obviously. i figured it was cromor because thats what the fork is made of, but some other dudes on bikeforums have told me that its slx tubing. i really have no idea. but if you check out the velospace link, youll see how much the thing weighs. 22 pounds for a 63cm steel frame isnt bad if you ask me. i aint no stupid weight weenie.

What puzzles me is that the marketing guys at Crescent thought they could sell more bikes with him, than a picture of say, other swedish stock....

That dude's too ugly to be Fabio. Plus, Fabio used to be a construction worker and he likes the ladies.
