* "Freewheels backwards" ... try opening up the hub & lubing it. Probably (hopefully just) got gummed
up from sitting.

* Go over the paint with polishing compound before waxing it. Just picked up a couple of new containers
of Turtle Wax Polishing Compound & Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound at Sears for $1.99 each.

After a long dry spell, I have picked up six bikes in the last week. So my stock of flippers is now replenished.





Doesn't look like a two-speed to me, from the picture. Could be wrong.

Amazing the plastic protector is still on the axle.

I never understood why people left those on there.... they're for protection during shipping, not as a fashion accessory. lol

While I thought that wrap around seat tube decal meant newer as well, component codes and serial number look up on vintage Trek shows it to be a 1980. The weird part is the 1981 Trek 412 I sold a couple of weeks ago, did not have the wrap around decal. So I am a little confused on the Trek decals.

^could it be a repaint? those wrap around decals can be found on ebay from time to time. I'm looking for some myself.

I got one of those racers I picked up for like 30-40 bucks, don't remember. Single speed and it's fun to ride around the neighborhood, here's some pics.

it's a 1953 model according to the serial number

WOW! A super nice score!!

I got a call last night on an ad I am running looking for old used bike to buy. It is a mid 70's Colnago Super 10 speed road bike. In Great shape. I had to pay a bit for this one as I normally do not spend $150 on a bike but I did for this one. Small frame, 50cm 29" standover height.

It has some nice parts on it..............it has a Campagnolo Headset, Campagnolo Front and rear wheel Hubs, Campagnolo seat post and Campagnolo shifters. I was told the bottom bracket is also Campy but cannot confirm, cloverleaf cut out on underside of bottom bracket. Front derailleur is Dura Ace, Rear is a Shimano CRANE. it has 5 gear Cassette, High Gear Ratio for a fast ride. Stronglight 20cm Crank Arms, Weinmann type 500 Brakes, Weinmann 27" Alloy Rims marked made in belgium, Newer Highend Gel seat, Win Gold Stem, Handlebars Unknown. Tires are in excellent shape and rims are 99.99% true. SUPER NICE BIKE!*

I decide to list it complete as you see it on ebay and am hoping for a great outcome. I almost tore it down last night but I couldnt make myself rip it apart.

I finnally got lucky.....I think! we will see, I know I will do well, how well???

I wish it had a larger frame.

Great score! You will do better if you part it out as the mixture of parts might/will lower the price.

Hmmm that makes alot of sense, but also requires me to do some work. The ad starts at 4:30 today PST and ends sunday so I think I am just going to let this one go as I listed it, complete.

My kid just called me and says his friend who cleans out forclosed homes has what he describes as a older schwinn Curcuit racing bike with a made in chicago tag on it but he didnt remember a name. He is getting it for me for a steal of a deal and I will have it friday.

Bikes are so much fun to flip...... and sometimes ride when the weather permits!

I cant wait for spring!

the guy I bought the colnago from told me 27" rims but I just looked closer and they are 700c rims

Just picked up a late 70's Peugeot UO-8 from my Father in law, it was going to be thrown away. I think it is all original except for the saddle. Some rust but I think I can make it into a good commuter. Cant beat the price!

Nice catch ! BTW I think you have the super expensive brake pads on your bike .

P.s. Just looked at your listing. Lowering the stem and adjusting the handlebars could have gotten you $100 more , easy...

I am going to take that lesson into account for the next ones I do, I never thought of the look being that important but it is.

I really should have parted it out and regret not doing so now but it was really hard for me to rip into this as I have never had a high end bike like this and I did not want to mess anything up. Im use to schwinns and 70s jap bikes so this one made me nervous. I did know that when he said what he had and how much he wanted for it, I can tell you I turned an hours drive into 40 minutes and left immediately. I didnt want him to think about it too long and get seconds thought or sellers remorse. Bike folks can be kinda testy sometimes. He was an old hippy and was smoking grass anyway so it was all cool when I got there.

He told me the brakes were something special but jeezz there just brakes right? NOT! I would have never have thought of just listing those brake pads on eBay until now.

You guys rock, the knowledge base is fantastic and its cool to show off a bike to those who think its cool. all I get from my friends are "bikes are for kids"
They know nothing!

The bike is up to 60+ bucks and I started the bidding out at .99 to start some fire! I have had alot of inquiries for australia and japan shipping, anyone know more about the cheapest way to ship, overseas.

Those brake pads are known for coming unglued from their surfaces just when you don't want them to do so. I've got a bag full that I don't know what to do with.

EDIT: Just saw NOS prices. NOS prices are one thing, well-used - eh, I have my doubts.

You should never feel bad for not parting out a bike and the raw condition of the bike might actually appeal to some buyers. You should have no problem getting what you seek for the whole bike since it's a smaller size and Japanese bidders love that . As for shipping , you can search the forums , there have been several threads on the subject as well as numerous thread about packaging.

The cheapest way would be USPS. Given that, I think you might not be able to ship the bike to Australia due to the sizing restrictions (Max. length 42", Max length plus girth combined 79"). Also, if you are able to get it within those limits, the cost would be over $150. You best make sure they know that before they bid. You will not have any problem with Japan as the size limit is Max length plus girth combined 108". TO japan it will cost about 130 though.

What i do when i have to overseas a bike is to put the wheels and all the other junk in one box and in the second box put the frame with little other parts.
