Garage sales were pretty good today. Found two bikes, a mixte and a mtb, both in woefully neglected condition, but both at typical garage sale prices. I avoid picking up mtbs, except as donors, as by the time I am done rebuilding them, I am typically upside down. No thanks. This one is different, it is a 1988 Schwinn Cimarron LE. Its toward the big size for me, but if it fits, I will be retiring another MTB. If not, its a good one.
The mixte is going to have to wait for the next OA rust campaign, really overdue to do this anyway.
Surprisingly, this garage sale actually listed a Fuji and Schwinn bike in the ad, and we got there 1 1/2 hours after the sale began. No idea why they were still there. Odd really.
Six in six days...Thats enough.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.

Just getting off from work this morning, one of the first customers on a nearby garage sale.
$50.00 for this Vilano single speed. It is my first fixie and perfect size. The bike has some rust here and there, but not bad at all. Got some low budget plans to make it my own. Unfortunately I do not have a pink jersey so the handlebar tape got to go, lol.

The only thing I dont like there is no water bottle cage bolts, and there should be an option to have quick release bike skewers.

Found this at a rebuild center. Dug through a pile for 30min, it was clear at the bottom. Not sure how goodof a deal i got as I am new to vintage bikes but it cost $20. It does have booth wheels I was just cleaning it up and snapped the pic.

I don't know them that well in fact that was actually the first time I had spoken the the man. I know the son a little.
As for the bike I'll clean it up and get the rust spots off and give it a ride. Like some other posters have said though, I can't understand how he did not know the value as he must have had purchased it in the first place. Just seen one on eBay go for £350 GBP and the thing is like 10years old. Am really keen to keep it though.

My AX came to me with Tricolor components as well. It now wears a more fitting group: 10s Campagnolo Record/Chorus with Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork, Moots seatpost and Moots stem.
Congrats, I was tempted to try and buy that for a buddy but it was too far of a drive. Great price.

Still trying to find out about this bicycle. Says it was made in West Germany. That is all I know. Can anyone help identify? Don't really care if it is not worth anything, just want to know a little more about it. Thanks.

Not real sure but I think it may be a Fleetwing, but there also use to be one called the Hawk, problem is I can't recall the decal look on either, but I know the both had a bird and one I thought had a globe. But it's been many years ago since I saw one. Probably someone else may come up with the right name.

Craigslist with a quick jump
Two bikes from CL last week for a total of $130.00
The Lotus Excelle is fairly original when compared to the Lotus website description. Fair condition, the usual chips from 32 years of use and abuse.....the Liquid Wrench can was sitting on the wall next to it when I got there. Haven't checked the seatpost yet, but the fork is not bent.
The other is a mystery. Much lighter than the size difference to the Lotus would indicate. Rattle can repaint. A project for sure. I will seek guidance as to origin in another thread.

My brother recently started driving for a scrap yard. Not sure if it's a good thing yet or not but this is one of the best of his finds so far. A Fuji Sagares literally pulled from the big magnet.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
My new 1993 Giant Iguana, paid 60.00 for it a few weeks back and made it my B bike in Portland, was great on the commute today and only had to swap the knobbies for slicks.

cost me free fifty free
Yesterday followed up on a tip that a guy wanted to offload some bikes. I called, he had four. Total dice roll, but I was locked in. Two Magnas , one Roadmaster, and one *Schwinn World Sport*.... woooooo. Derailleurs date out to 85-86. Not too bad for free and a 12 mile roundtrip. Also caught up with another bike fool friend and he wanted to give me the green one pictured. '64 Schwinn Varsity. Curiously, there's a 1962 license on it.
