I got this cutie for $20. I rode it around the driveway, the tires hold air still!:
I finally scraped the gunk of the rear dropout, SN is #H226346 which, according to the internet, makes it built on August 7, 1962.
The tires clearly say 20 x 1 1/8 to fit S6 rim. I do not see a 20" Racer in the '62 Catalog. Any insight?

'82 Trek 614 without the original wheelset, lovely deep red, and right price.

Jack of all trades
^I was going to mention that myself. I just sold a Trek 500 which had that seat tube decal destroyed by the time I got it. The Australian replacement costs $40!!

No worries, just a photo op with the seat post still slammed.

Needed some Gears while on vacation in NC
found this one, just my size to ride while on vacation. It fit the bill as 59cm Steel in riding condition. A nice old Harry Hall with Reynolds 531 tubing and a mix of Shimano 600, 105, and Suntour. Cinelli stem and bars. A bit of rust, but rides very nice. I see another winter project in the future.

Cool bike, Vonruden. I like that fork and seat lug. Maybe it's the photo angle, but it looks like an interesting combination of tight clearances and slack angles.

Help! What is it?
Haven't posted in over a year, in part because of a move (had to sell rather than buy) and partly because I'm not seeing the bargains that I saw 2-3 years ago. Talked to a fellow bike-accumulator, and he thinks we might have exhausted the supply of bikes-worth-buying or the people who think those fine, old bikes are junk. Whatever, I went to the junkyard today and found this jewel/piece of junk. It seems to be something, but I don't know what. The frame is (somewhat rusted) chrome with no decals or headbadge, but it has brazed, adjustable, Suntour ES dropouts. The derailleurs are Shimano Titlist GS, with Shimano hubs and alloy wheels, and Shimano Tourney brakes. There is a serial number on the bottom bracket, 3K6319. Showed it to my friends at the local bike shop (Broken Spoke in Manitowoc--they love classic bikes), and they thought the lugs looked like Raleigh, but thought the bike was some kind of a collaboration. I might want to fix this one and ride it, rather than barter or sell it. Help me out on this--you vintage bike gurus have never let me down. Any info would be much appreciated.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
My catch of the year when I found the old chap...
Monday...
Instead of N+1 I am thinking I will be parting with a few bicycles as the Moulton is so freaking awesome... and I found a home for my other Moulton which will be another member's catch of the day.

Matt,
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I knew Bike Forums wouldn't fail me. So maybe this one I polish up and ride for a year or so.

Yep, I think it was built in August of 1962 to be sold in 1963. The 1963 catalog shows a 20" Racer in the lineup.

I snagged this 2010 Serotta Legend Ti for a mere fraction of what it cost just a few years ago. The owner upgraded to a full carbon rig after only a few rides. It was a custom, measures out a 52x54, the long head tube makes things a little more upright. I guess I got lucky, because it feels very comfortable. It's my first sloping top tube bike.
It has full 10 speed Centaur with a triple front, mismatched Centaur shifters (one carbon, one alloy), King headset, carbon post, blah blah blah...
I just need some new bar tape and it's good to go! It weighs in at 18lbs.

There was a neighborhood garage sale a few miles from my house today. I spent a couple hours checking out the various locations that were having yard sales. I picked up a couple sets of pedals for cheap and an 82/83 Peugeot Mixte. The bike came with a brand new helmet still in the box with all tags and the receipt ($52). My wife was in need of a new helmet so she gets it. The bike and helmet set me back $20. The bike is nothing special BUT it is in perfect condition. I spent about an hour cleaning and getting it all lubed up. It is now listed on CL.
