It is pretty cool. I'm having trouble putting an exact year on it. Best I can tell from doing searches and looking at catalog scans is that it is between 1980-84. Can't wait to take it out. Going to be easy to get it pristine.

The French don't seem to be as consumed with exact dates and production line identities as does some other cultures. If the wheels are original the front wheel hub [stamp] maybe a close guess at the manufactured year.

I'm not too worried about it. It does have the original Weinmann concave wheels. I'll check the hubs when I start working on it.

Three weeks of work to remove this post. Tried bench vises, PB Blaster, CRC Freeze-off, Ammonia, a pipe wrench with a cheater bar (that finally spun it, but I couldn't get it out) and finally, a hacksaw. This is right up there with completing my solo tour and my first century as top-bicycle moments:

Actually I did pay for it, but considering what kind of bike it is, it wasn't that much. PY's are extremely difficult to come by, and this one is exactly my size.

It's a Muddy Fox, the Seeker model. A rarity here in the States as far as I can tell. Apparently it was a British company, manufactured in Taiwan. Cool paint, Tange infinity tubing, XCD parts, and very cool and massive purple stem.

Picked this early 1990's Series 50 up last night, too small for me. One hundred miles round trip to buy it, but acquired at an irresistible price. @wrk101 thinks I have a divining rod for finding PDG MTB's deals.

I had a good day as well, picking up this Trek and Fisher from the original owner. They have not been ridden in 20 years, in need of a good cleaning and overhaul.

Got the Urban Express. SUPER nice guy, who just happened to also have a blue Super LeTour 12.2 frame. He agreed to not sell it, and hold it for me. I don't have a stockpile of Shimano groups like I used to, hmm. I will have to look and see what I have. This UE is FINE though! Only 28 or so pounds according to the catalog scans I've seen. It might get the set of Nitto alloy bars in the garage, and some Mountech derailleurs.,,,,BD

This is the c&v thread, and this is a vintage bike, and I did save this bike. Pic is as found in a barn. In the process of cleaning it up, and its coming along really nice.

You know what the sad part is? A day or so after I committed to buying this one, an equally nice Canyon Express in the same frame size popped up. If it's still around later in the week, I may have to do it. Just to say I waited, lol!

I now see that it's not there anymore. Crisis averted.:-)

Stopped by the community garage sale and besides finding a nice flask and a light saber I came across this 1948 Singer 99k... I didn't even haggle on the price since it came in a rather nice desk.

We could tolerate this because it could be bike related if it's used to sew torn shorts and/or jerseys! My wife has an old Singer she got when she was 13 years old, other than the usual belt replacement and cleaning and oiling it worked great for the last 45 years, they don't make stuff like that anymore unless you go into commercial machines and pay a fortune for them. There wasn't any type of fabric or vinyl that machine can't handle.

I have been looking for one of these straight stitch machines for some time and the 99k is only smaller in size, it has the power of it's full sized siblings... I plan to use it for canvas and leather to make bike related things like tool wraps and perhaps some bags.

My main machine is a 1961 Singer 403 A that I picked up some years ago, it was in immaculate condition and was owned by an older gentleman... I brought it home by bike on a ride that was a 25 mile round trip.





My wife has an equally nice 1962 Singer Rocketeer and the nice thing is that all the parts between the full sized machines interchange so between us we have almost every accessory and gear cam.

My daughter has a Sears Kenmore 1030 machine that was made in Japan, it is a 3/4 machine of great quality... it was made by Jaguar / Maruzen and this machine comes branded under other names as well.

Bottom line is that pre-1965 Singer machines are among the best ever made, they moved to nylon gears in the late 60's which diminished the quality of them.

I have to correct my earlier post about my wife's machine, it's NOT a Singer, though it looks just like the one pictured but has no brand name in gold painted on it, but it has all the exact same gold paint designs as that Singer you got it's just black paint where your's says Singer. It does have the same looking gold medallion that's on yours that says Deluxe 1952 Noel made in Japan, the motor is a .05hp Dayton motor, my wife thinks it came from Sears, neither of us know what the size is. She does have a much more modern machine she got just last year for doing fancy stitching, but for the heavy work she uses the old job.

The Japanese made some very good copies of Singer and other machines and in some cases they were even better quality... Jaguar / Maruzen was a major producer and my daughter's Sears Kenmore 1030 machine was made by this company and is a joy to use.
