I know we love the awesome C+v finds, but often times these can be such a money maker.

That's exactly why I bought it. I need some super record cranks

I love the color scheme on these old peugeots. Looks like it's in nice shape, too. New tape, new hoods and you're done! :thumb:

Purchased at the rear of a "second hand" shop in town for $10. Other than leaky rear tire could be ridden.

1983 Raleigh Challenger Made in Canada. Will have to find it a home now.

Picked up this filthy old fat-tuber today from PO Andy in exchange for a Benji. I've wanted one of these since I started researching touring bikes. Owner said it's a 1990; I'll will have to do some serial # research to find out.

Nice Brooks Professional included at no extra charge is the icing on the cake, here!

Great score, with the saddle and barcons, but V brakes?

I know! This was advertised along with a Miyata 1000 ($50) both described as having "Many upgrades over the years."

Despite the "upgrades," the Miyata was a pretty good deal, too.

Nope, but it's going up on the for sale thread pretty soon. It's a beater with way too many dubious "upgrades." :(

Really tiny, too. a 48-50cm, I think. The good news is it has the original wheels, SR Apex crank and the original brake calipers.

Nice, picked up one of those recently too, plan was to clean up and flip, plan now is to clean up and keep after riding it :)

This beauty (Peugeot 'Le Tour' 1989 road bike?) was heading for the dump but I snapped her up :) She has most of the original parts as far as I am aware and the original frame pump.

Won this on Ebay for $0.99........ (no the stand doesn't go with it LOL) shipping was $70 but I'm doing local pickup tomorrow so I'm giving the seller a few bucks extra for "shipping and handling" just to be fair. It's too small for me but I can use it for parts or try to score a cheap set of 700c wheels and tires and see if I can trade it for something my size. I'll swap out the pedals though and put these on my Fuji Espree.

Update: Got it home, the pictures did not do it justice, too bad it's such a low end bike and a size too small because other than some minor scuffs this thing is C-L-E-A-N. No rust on any of the chrome, no oxidation on the aluminum and it's even clean down inside the derailleurs.

Picked this up for $90 yesterday, after a month or so of bugging the recent owner NOT to modernize it and strip it down to bare chrome. Identity saved, but it will need a lot of work. 72-74ish Fuji Newest. Nice details for a Fuji, they tended to stay on the tame side until the real upper end stuff. Silver paint with chrome lugs. Going to be a looker. Might paint it sometime around the beginning of Spring (I hope) Of course Spring down here is a little over a month away, hehe.,,,,BD

Looks like the frame was a bit on the small side for former owner. He must have been a giant.

I'd have been in the "strip it" camp myself. Strip to chrome,& respace rear triangle. Sell the components on CL and finance an Ultegra Di2 groupset. I might keep the wheelset, or just upgrade that too.

That is a sweet frame, if it fits.

Bikedued 01-18-15 01:59 PM

Most painted chrome bikes are ugly underneath, as is this one. They didn't waste time polishing parts that didn't get painted, only the lugs and socks.,,,,BD

It fits!:D

Yeah, a lot of people don't realize this until it's too late, but this thing is going look pretty nice when you have new paint on it. Great catch, and it's my size too

kingfish254... I saw your previous post about a acquiring a 1992 Cannondale Delta V1000 and that you may use it for parts. Any chance you would have the rear swingarm available for sale? Thanks.

Bikedued 01-26-15 08:45 PM

On the way home from the Sunday ride, I said WTH I am going to drive up the I-45 feeder road and hit the pawn shops. Well, first one was a bust, bunch of Wally World BSO's, etc. Then I pull up to shop number two. I parked the truck and walked up to the row of bikes. Same old..same old. There's like 20 bikes and nothing is even worth looking at... Hang on, what is that MASSIVE frame tube?? My eyes focused, and I see smoothed welds on big chunky aluminum tubes. Hmmm, those forks aren't your normal mtb fare..? The bottom fork stiffening hoop was huge, and why are the tubes going past the lower headset? I only know one brand of bike that looks like this? CANNONDALE!! A couple of phone searches, and what I have discovered here is a repainted with no decals, 97 Super V with a Moto fork upgrade. I hesitate a moment, because I know there's no way this will be affordable. I slowly turn the tag expecting $350+, and my eyes are greeted with the figure of FIFTY NINE DOLLARS!!! This can't be right? I went in to the store immediately, and they followed me out. We talked about it a minute, and asked them if they would take $50. They immediately agreed, and I paid my money and got out of there.:D

I've always been a Cannondale fan, and this a completely new animal for me. It will definitely get a repaint, and I have some much higher end goodies to put on it. XTR and XT mainly. The shifters are XT already, with the Servo wave levers that I'm not a huge fan of. They seem to work well with both the Hayes disc brake and the V brake in back. This bike doesn't feel as heavy as it actually is, and even in the middle ring I can get the front wheel off the ground in the lower range. Love it so far, and it can only get better with a little work. The chainrings are THICK!! I imagine they double as bash guards?,,,,BD

What a freakin score on that Cannondale! Congrats!

Its not luck, you made the effort to check, recheck and double check, and eventually found a score. Well done.

Is that a steel cotterless crankset? I ran across one on a similarly low-end Fuji I acquired a few months back. I'd never seen that type of crank before, and once I removed it I was really impressed by how much it weighed--almost as much as the frame, it seemed to me.

Great find! Rare bike. Hopefully there are more pictures of this one.

Those Schwinnasonics always have incredible paint, even the low end ones. My wife has a 1979 Traveler III that looks like it just rolled out of the factory.

Yes it is. This was no lightweight. Might explain the low miles....... ;)

All three bikes were twenty dollars each. The 1940 twin tube was sold to a collector and the Mustang was sold immediately as is. I still have to go through the Sekine 10 speed and it should be a easy sell once spring fever kicks in....http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430847http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430848http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=430849
