That is a VERY nice looking bicycle. "Bicycle" seems more appropriate than "bike" for some reason, classy ride.

You should put a nexus hub on there.

Yup!

Well, the rear hub is dated 1949; the bicycle as a whole would be a little later.

I'm going to have to start a thread about this. I mean no, I wouldn't put anything that says "Shimano" on it, but where does one draw the line? Is this such a museum piece that I should just give up and put it in a museum?

Those aren't presta valves; they're Woods valves:

Well, you both may be right. The tubes are definitely not original: they have presta valves (what you see on the front is a screw-on schrader adapter). However, if Woods valves were equal to presta in diameter at the rim hole, then the rims could have originally been drilled for Woods.

EDIT: Don't have to look much farther than rhm's catalog post (in his Le Trou Normande! thread). 27" Dunlop chromium plated rims with presta valved tires. I suppose the age of the catalog page may be disputed?

The saga of this Norman Rapide is one of the true greatest stories ever told on BF, and it is still unfolding. This is what it is all about. This story has it all!!! This bike has it all!!!

Got a 1951 Rudge Sports Light. About as new as I could EVER hope to find. Needs to slightly unbend the drive side crank and give it the usual consumables, but its awesome Pictures to come tomorrow hopefully. It's a dreary rainy overcast day here.

So today I found my holy grail, well I have to wait a week for it, I did some volnteer[however this work is spelled lol] work at a bike shop, one my day like I did today and I get a old CCM bicycle. I wasn't a huge fan of them till I seen this one, it's a men's frame like a 3 speed but it's got suicide shifer with two cables moving the rear derail Thing thing thing, That "thing" itself looks very neat, i've never seen one like this before, next fri i'll show my find!

Haven't been around in a while, since all my classic projects have been wrapped up. But I just scored a Univega Specialissima in pretty decent shape. Now to flip or keep...

Pictures of my 1951 Rudge Sports that I bought. Needs tires, grips, cables, unbend crank arm, clean cog on SA hub...feels gummy. RUDGE rubber block pedals are worn but still in good shape. The "R" can be seen on all spoke ends on the hub. Raleigh Industries kick stand. B66 saddle still supple even though it looks rough. Rear hub says AW 51 5, and I think the front dyno hub says 6 51. It matches the description to a T in an old 1954 Rudge ad I found somewhere on the internet.

**after a bit of gentle bending with a pipe wrench, two foot long breaker bar, a square/straight edge, I got the crank arm 99.9%. I may just leave as is or tweak it more later. Unfortunately, I had to replace the pedals. When it was originally bent, the spindle in the RUDGE pedal bent as well, and that is something I don't think I can fix. I'll look at it again later**

People drop stuff off because I tell lots of people if they see bicycles in the trash to pick them for me and I have a ad on a local site, so I do have a find today, it's another Raleigh sports! in very good condition, it was free day today, I went to a Free garage sale so everything was free, I was deep in the lineup but I still got the Sports, no one wanted it!, i'll post pics after I get the other two bikes tonight that a friend is bringing me.
