Snagged this lovely Voyager 11.8 yesterday off the local CL for $40.00

It's on the small end of the scale of what I can ride but I think I'm going to keep this one.

Someone may have left it outside for a couple of days. It looks to be early 80s material. BTW, what is this hoop for. Only thing I can come up with, is to keep the panniers from hitting the cable?

The frame is actually in pretty decent shape, the seat post isn't stuck, and the stem is only mildly froze up.

Would try a bolt clippers instead of an oil can on that chain. What a deal for $30! You need to dismantle, clean, grease and lube any bike that age anyway! How did you find it?

I already took my air-tool with cutoff wheel to it. Someone posted it on CL as a 'fixie project'. I saw the cantilever brakes and knew it was worth something. It will clean up good, but I'll have to find some chrome parts for it(rusted cable stops, shifter clamp, etc...)

Here's my latest find. A unique triplet with a short middle section and adjustable bottom bracket for a child. The fork is also quite unique. Phil hubs, arai drum brake. $300 on craigslist. No decals anywhere, any help identifying it is welcome.

Late 90s early 2000s Specialized Crossroads plus+++++

Scored big at a moving sale today.
For $40 total, I picked up a Specialized Crossroads hybrid bike, a heavy duty bike lock, a floor bike pump with built in gauge, a high end skateboard, a Yakima bike carrier rack, and a 32GB SD memory card.

It's meant to protect the paint on the chainstay from chain slap, although I don't think you'll have a problem with that chain slapping anything....

Nice find, I have one that is a bit earlier and like it a lot. Tons of tire clearance and a very short top tube that makes it easy to convert the bars if you want.

This appealed to me just because of the fact that it is the same model and year as my Blue bike. I am pretty sure it's a 73 Grand Touring (ladies model).

https://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g2_itemId=33284

It's not perfect, but should clean up pretty well. I think the Crank is worth more than what I paid. I have never seen a longer shift lever(except the 4 speed in my Grandpas 69 F350)

Here it is with my other GT(which hasnt been cleaned up yet, either). BTW, even with the fancy little rack, I am only into both bikes slightly more than a C note.

I'll have to re-create this Catalog picture...

a guy stopped by today to get some brake levers from me.. and ended up leaving the bike here to get the levers installed and the bars wrapped, along with adjusting the rear derailleur bike is kinda franken-bike with shimano 600 tricolor brake calipers, stem shifters and FD, deore XT RD and now shimano 600ex levers. Trek Carbon 2300.. first plastic bike i've ever seen up close. it's not that much lighter than my ironman imo.. ill test ride it later.. though unfortunately can't ride it much with the pedals it's got on there lol.. maybe illl swap em out for the test ride

not really a catch but this is the best place to post it i guess

btw, i don't know if i would trust anyone with my bike that i met off cl.. lol

I am hoping that this oldie will be my catch of the day soon. I am still negotiating, but it should be mine soon. It is a Monark Thunderbird with dual top rails. The paint is in good shape and it has light tank, fenders, rack , and chainguard. The fender airplane has one broken wing. New rims and tires have been put on along with a Schwinn seat. Wish me luck.

+1 But I'd have to tie it to the side of the car like the Marlin in 'The Old Man and the Sea'.

Agree, great score. I would guess it is a custom project from the mid 80's judging from the components. Perfect for a family tour.

We're taking it on it's first camping trip this weekend. Getting it into the car was a challenge since I was afraid I'd lose it if I went home for a rack. It ended up just fitting with the wheels removed and the front passenger seat leaning all the way back.

I was told it's a '78. Reynolds stickers are not so readable. Serial appears to be 4F8G19. Anyone have any thoughts on year/model?

Craigslist $85. Asking price was only $100. When I got there, the guy clearly felt awful about the back tire being flat and voluntarily lowered the price. I didn't even have to lowball him. Nice condition. Not much on the internet... any ideas on exact year/model, etc?

Today I found a couple of noise maker bells (Saturn and Toyota United), and also a pair of vintage Keithley digital autoranging Multimeters for $5 each. They have stickers on them stating they were used at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, one sticker is marked DOE (Department of Energy), and the other is marked USAEC (United States Atomic Energy Commission).
