Matrix = Cromor. It should ride very nicely.

82-83 Mt Hood. The model name is on the chain stay, and may be too faded to read, but it is a Mt Hood. NICE find. I had a very nice one that I sold, and still regret it 5-6 years later.,,,,BD

Nice find. I recommend Panaracer "Mach" tires. They are front and rear specific SS & SK models, but can be run either or I guess. They're durable, and grippy enough for everything I've ridden into.,,,,BD

Not a great find, but not a bad find either. I picked up a Peugeot PH-501 this afternoon. It is my size and only needs a front tire & tube along with the usual neglected bike maintenance. There is a ding in the top tube (about 1/32" deep and 3/8"wide). The paint is in better shape than I thought from the single photo that the seller posted. The chain is toast, but has no frozen links and allowed me to shift through the entire gear range. Here are some photos.

Garage kept with a slightly open package of fertilizer and/or pool chemicals. Thankfully not long enough where it can't be salvaged though. I wouldn't sneeze at a PH501, not at all. I'd be grinning ear to ear if I got one of those cheap enough in that condition. Of course if it was a PGN10, the top of my head might fall off.,,,,BD
Definitely LOVE that maroon and rainbows. It's my favorite Peugeot color scheme.....

Saved this from a dark, dusty forgotten box in the LBS today. I had to tell them what it was. They said" But it's empty, why would you want it?"
Little rubber plastic saddle bag by Reydel. 60's-70's I think.Perfect for a few tools, phone, money or tire repair items.
Earmarked for my Belgique bike.

Is this the one that's on DFW Craiglist partially stripped now?

Long story short: this is an unnecessary but completely appreciated payback to me from a friend:
Came without pedals, so I slapped on a couple platforms, lubed the chain and took it around the block. It rides wonderfully.
Bit of worry. There's been some erosion of the enamel or protective sealant of the carbon fiber at top of the down tube, right where it joins the aluminum:
Any vintage carbon fiber wonks want to weigh in on whether the above looks deeply unsafe or is just run of the mill wear? The whole thing feels solid, but I'd rather slap these parts on a metal frame than lose teeth (just teeth, if I'm lucky) in a frame failure.
Never had a carbon fiber bike. It's neat.

I would say that's not an uncommon thing from Schwinn, my 1976 Superior frame was produced in 1974 if I remember correctly.

Maybe built in 1980, primed, and painted and shipped in 1982? It could happen with Schwinn.

It seems that not many people want late 80s/early 90s mountain bikes any more. Orange paint, double butted CroMo, Suntour XCT; what's not to like. Welcome to the Badlands.

Mid 90's GT Tequesta. It's lighter than I expected, which is always a good thing on a mountain bike. The main tubes ring like a bell. This was at the flea market, and I was just saying how I quit going because I never find anything worth it anymore. This place is a mud hole, but it brings in sellers from all over the area.
It has STX components, but I can fix that. There's nothing really wrong with STX, but it's kind of chintzy looking. Smoked chrome, modernish logo's etc. Just not thrilling to me, even though it was used on some nicer bikes in the 90's. Trek 930's etc.
Anyway. this will get the usual treatment, Deore XT or LX, etc. The wheels are nice though! Mavic rims, and the standard 90's Shimano branded Parallax hubs. This is a pre bath picture, to show as found condition. He was asking $100, and I offered $60. No sale, so I offered $80. He said yes, and I rolled it to the truck.,,,,BD
After a bath, and better lighting for the color scheme.

I'd leave it on there. For this bike, I think STX has the perfect 'colourway.'
