Early filler brazed vs. early electro forged
I have this really cool prewar 26x1 1/4" flip flop fixy wheel set. I'm been nosing around for an appropriate 26" frame. My favorite so far is the early Schwinn New World fillet brazed lightweights but there is a confusing array of similar models and it's hard to tell from the fuzzy pictures on Ebay whether I'm looking at a FB bike or a EF bike. To confuse me even more, it seems like they used a lot of names on either type depending on the year.
When did they start electroforging?
Are there any good books that detail this transition?
Here's one of those fuzzy auctions;
https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=120358524567
It has that cool style fork that I associate with FB bikes and the cool chrome or SS fenders but the botton bracket really looks EF.
Then there's Tom Findley's brochure collection;
https://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1...9/1953_08.html
Where I find a 51 Continental with a Chromo frame and a 53 Varsity. What kind of bike was that?
Thanks guys.

That eBay Schwinn is most definitely an EF frame,I know because it looks almost identical to the EF frame on the wall behind me.

Ben, Travelers of that era were EF frames. There's a '60s FB Superior on ebay at the moment. It's a mess with a bent fork and many wrong parts. The opening bid and BIN price are too high. But the frame has potential for the kind of project you would like to use your wheels for. Best of luck.

Keep lookin--you need a 26" wheeled frame to look correct.Don't rush and buy a 27" wheeled frame and use the 26'rims---looks all wrong.I'd check ebay.au or ebay.UK too---shipping now is a bit costly but for a great frame,expect to pay more.

Thanks for the info guys.
That Superior is pretty cool but pricey and 27"
That Sports Tourer is really cool but I've already got one (in yellow)
"OTHER" bike site? OK that Shelby is maybe the ticket. Nice big pictures, too.
This is the bike that got my juices flowing;
I just didn't have the ching at the time and it's left a hankering.
I PMed the Shelby guy.
