fuji feather track bike
Bought this via craigslist, seller rode it in japan. I don't think these were available for u.s. consumption.
Any info welcomed. what does the sidi decal mean? Forgot to get the headbadge pic, it's a feather...
sorry for the blurriness of some of the pics. Also, it's fresh out of the box, I haven't done anything to it yet. Came w/ tubular wheels, front shimano, rear suntour. I will probably run newer clinchers on it for commuting practicality. I have a nice suntour superbe seatpost for it, any suggestions for saddle, stem, bars?

for commuting I would put a japanese post like SR royal (nice stems too), or an aero SR or a sugino SP-H post. Bars... SR royal as nice or anything nitto..

If this holds true, it's a 1976 frame:https://www.bikeforums.net/archive/in.../t-342711.html
my serial # is 76G50187.
Was Sidi around then?

I don't know the saddle, but the Nitto's sound very nice. If anyone in the USA is looking for such - Harris Cyclery has them (no - don't work there).
Do post photos of this build. We LOVE photos!

Found a used nitto stem this past weekend, it polished up nicely. I'm leaning towards nitto bullhorns for practicality. I have an old bianchi track bike w/ steel cinelli track drops, it looks beautiful but the bars aren't comfortable after 10 miles of riding or so. As for the saddle, I have a 90s? fuji race saddle w/ cool fuji emblams embroidered on it, I will probably use that until I find a more suitable period saddle.

I second the Nitto bullhorns, I installed some on my Fuji back home and they are way more comfortable than dropbars.

Got it up and running. Put some cheapo track wheels on it for now, going to build the o/g hubs (front dura ace, rear suntour superbe pro) into clinchers next month or so. This will be a commuter so I put clipless pedals on it.

I'd be scared to have that saddle out in the rain -- but the build looks great. I really like the headbadge, good stuff.

That's a cool saddle - but it seems out of place on that bicycle.

yes a period saddle would be more suiting, I'm open for donations! Right now I'm saving $ for the wheel build though...

I decided on bullhorns to make my commuting more comfortable:
Also, a few questions - why is my rear caliper "reversed":
The mounting bolt is the correct length for rear calipers. Did someone use a front caliper w/ a rear bolt, or did they make some calipers reversed back-in-the-day?
Also, when I put my front wheel in one way, it is centered at the top:
but when I flip the wheel around, it is offset to one side a few millimeters. Is this a hub/axle problem, or a front fork problem. Should I just not worry about it as long as I ride it in the "centered" position?

Well I think I answered the wheel/fork question. I took the wheel to the lbs (brand new front wheel), and put it on the truing stand, and checked the dish by flipping it around. It's out by several mm.

If the rim is not centered over the hub but it was aligned in the fork one way then you either have an axle spacer problem or a fork problem. I hope it's a spacer problem.
