74 Peugeot UE-8
Hello all--
I'm 'repurposing' what I believe to be a UE-8-- but the odd thing is that the frame I acquired has no shifter bosses or frame pump mounts like I've seen in most photos I could find. The lugs on the frame, emblem on the head tube, and sweet metallic blue paint and two tone chrome fork say UE-8... Any ideas? |

pix and notes
Hello Sages of all things velo-- please visit http://bdmiller.shutterfly.com/ to see some pix of a UO/UE-8 that I'm throwing together. First-- I know that I need to set up a longer chain and rear derailleur. Thought about a fixie but wanted options. I know there are many who will loathe the straight bars as well. It is a frankenbike-- muchly so. I can't pin down the year, but the head badge says late 70's maybe? You guys let me know. And if anyone can help me figure out the seat post dilemma-- 24mm/23.8-- I dunno. If I have to settle for the BMX shim/mod I will. I have discovered many a thread on this... Might just machine the old fatwalled post I've got.
I love reading these posts-- my thanks and admiration to all who share their wisdom... |
Yeah, I'd guess late 70's. My '74 used a 22mm seat post with a shim but it takes a 25.6mm seatpost without the shim...YMMV.

'77-'78-ish. No DT bosses because it has stem shifters.
