Campy bb new vs old: are tapers the same?

Wanted to know if I can use an older bb w/a newer crankset.

The tapers ought to be the same, but the offset has changed several times over the years.

Phil Wood tells us that the "taper" was changed post '93...but I think it was size of spindle ends rather than taper degree, since 2º seems standard regardless of ISO, JIS, or Campy. Phil also muddles what they call the different standards as they long had a "splits-the-difference" size that was sort of universal, at least until Campy did whatever in '93.

Yeah a new campy square taper is considered JIS now.

Now color me confused. I thought JIS was different vs Campy (IS0)?

I have a newer Campy crankset hung onto this older bb spindle. It immediately showed a slight eccentric travel.

I'd like to eliminate the possiblilites.

This is just presenting further possibilites.

Both ISO and JIS tapers are two degrees. JIS spindles are bigger at the small end. Using the wrong one won't cause "eccentric travel".
