Alan Info/Pic Request
As some of you may know I recently picked up an Alan frame on ebay. It was built up once but never ridden. I'm building it up with Campy SR.
Not knowing much about Alan's at all I emailed some information about my frame to AlAN Usa to see what they could tell me.
I sent them the pics seen here, as well as the numbers I found on the BB shell:
541807
3* 61x60
and some text on one of the seat stays:
ALAN 281
I assumed the 541807 is the serial number?
Anyway, here's the short response I received:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hi Brian,
Alberto, the owner of ALAN, said that this is a “Super” model made Feb. 1981.
Best,
Sally
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I think she meant that it's a Super Record? Here's a link to a 2 page catalogue which shoes a crappy pic of a SR frame:
https://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/Alan/
So, are there any other ALAN owners here? If so I'd be great if you could post a pic, and maybe even your serial number to see if we could make sense of them. In general any info you wish to add about Alan bikes would be great as there doesnt seem to be too much yet.
As for me, as soon as I get a suitable set up handlebars and brake levers I'll have mine built up.

the ebay auction said it was a Record as well:
https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=280303279568
It also says it has a regina headset when it clearly says Ofmega on it though.
So any guesses as to year or do you think Alberto at least got that part right?

Here's what mine looked like, below. I've no serial number. Mine was bought used off of CL, and sported a 6-speed Shimano drive-train. I sold it off last summer.

HI Holiday76,
Here's my ALAN. I believe it's an '83 model. It has the frame size stamped on the BB along with the serial number. It also has 'SPRINT 1 1 83 stamped on the seat tube near the top and on the right hand side.

Yours may well be a Super Record, I had a '79, yours looks a little newer. Mine was a little plainer, didn't have the cable braze-ons. I'll see if I can find the pics I took before I sold it. You got a nice one!
