Seat Post
Anyone know is it possible to get a 24mm seat post anywhere. They were used on some French Bikes, don't know if any other manufacturer used them.

The one I need is narrower at the top and the seat fits into it. So the one on ebay won't work. I presume that one is hollow in the middle so can't be filed down.

Actualy, its easier to find alloy ones!!
Your seat will work just fine on it if you remove the hardware. Be sure to double check with the seller on shipping charges before you bid!!!!!

one option would be to buy a slightly larger one you like and take it to a machine shop to have them turn it down right, on a lathe. Shouldn't cost much at all, and they'll make sure it's done right.

I must say, this post on eBay is certainly the oddest looking seatpost I have EVER seen. Is it indeed a Simplex made post? I've never seen anything like it. Does anyone have a catalogue schematic? ... I would love to see how this peculiar looking piece actually adjusts the saddle tilt. I'm pretty familiar with most everything produced in France during the 1970s through mid-1980s and this one really stands out as completely... uh... unique.

I have one of those on an '84 Peugeot, very cool, micro adjust with two allen bolts. Mine has a groove in the back and the frame has a set screw for the seatpost which comes in from the back of the seat tube under the seatstays. I'd never seen anything like it, sort of self centers the seat. If you want some detailed pics of the set up let me know.

26mm. I just hope it never dies, because it appears to be a rare and probably expensive one to replace. I guess you could dremel a groove in a standard seatpost if you had to, but I don't relish the thought of ever doing that.
