Yes, sitting around with my knee under recovery AND within reach of a high speed internet connection, makes one rather creative.

If you have a Gazelle (or other Dutch steel) and posted pics here on C&V, well, it might be on my site. If not, and you want to contribute, please do.

Thats a nice website, did you use software that creates the html code?

I have watched some Gazelle frames sell for pretty affordable prices. I was tempted to buy one a while ago but chickened out since I didn't know much about them. The A AA AA AAA aaaaa naming system is a little murky to me. I love the gazelle logo in the brake bridges

Yeah, the Gazelle naming convention is a bit confusing, I'll let s70rguy or someone else straighten it out as I don't want to spread mis-information. The A-frame tends to have longer wheel base and has mounts for fenders, my AB-frame has no mounts and shorter stays. the AA-frame is yet more "race" bred it seems and so on.

Jan, I'll add your website link to VeloBase.com when I get a chance.

Oops.. lets see, it's hanging a couple feet above my computer....

3255113, I'll have to take pictures of the cool roto BB at some point as well. I have been told that it is an AA frame "with the extra bells and whistles" like heavy duty BB and fork crown and lots of chrome.

Very interesting. Great addition to the web.

Nice to see my Presto frame featured. Here you go for pics of my black Zieleman. Hope to come up with pics of my other two too: One new condition mid/late 80s SR equipped example, the other a NR equipped rider.

Other Dutch in the stable:

Gazelle -->
'baan' full bike, NR Pista
AA Special frame, 1982
A frame, late 70s
AB frame, 2x, for sale

RIH Bustraan, late 70s, SR

Rafty Funnel (mountainbike)

Hope to have pics of all some day.

Btw I see the pics in my Zieleman topic are resized very badly. You can of course increase their size to original size by copy/paste the pics address in a new screen.

I've got a few Batavus catalog page scans from the early to mid 80's if you're interested. They are in the Dutch language. Unfortunately, I don't have complete catalog scans.

Here's an '85 Batavus Competition I sold last year. I received it as a mongrel build, and I performed my own revised mongrel build:

Thanks all for your contributions. I realize that since these are not Italian bikes, the interest is predictably lower. Still, all the answers to the A AA AB riddle is now under one roof, so to speak.

Very nice. Now could you send some of that creativity here and maybe some motivation so I could get off my arse and build my Bottecchia website? What did you use? I assume you didn't go old school and type the html by hand...

Thanks. An old version of Dreamweaver did it all for me, plus off course Photoshop for the graphics. Pretty fast and efficient that way. I have maybe 3 evenings into it, including the hunt for material on BF and the internet.

Jan,

To me this frame looks a lot like an A-frame with dremeled away fender eyes. Seller is also nowhere claiming in his ad it is an AA-Special. Think that ''AA-Special'' sticker just came with the stickerset. Still a nice frame though - sure.

In this collection a nice Champion Mondial present --->

Click

many pics

Looks like a Champion Modial AA Super to me. With indented seattube to allow a very short criterium style geometry. I think 1983 is very early for that font on the down tube. I've seen later ones with the older font. Refinished at some point or a couple of years younger?

Thanks for your input, Melvin. That AA Super with the Campy Anniversary Group is pretty wild. Wishbone seatstay and indented tube! I thought my normal Gazelle was pretty lively, but this one? I'd like to try it for a spin around town, or rather ad it to the wish list of future acquisitions...
May have to it it to the site.

Nice job Jan! I hope to see pics of the frame set built. I might also send you some pics of my potentially new Champion Mondial that I'm trying to get to me before I leave. Lates!

This guy's a little confused about where his bike comes from, but maybe you can set him straight, and add his (in my view at least) beautiful bike to your site:

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/bik/1058487467.html

By the way, is he way off on the value, or is that pretty reasonable? I'm only curious, not actually in the market for such a thing.

Cheers,
Dan
